Idea:

The Tiber on Display. Both inside and immediatley out-side. The island is a place of summer time walks, gath-erings and film viewings. To enhance the awareness of and support the enjoyment of the river, the Museum will allow for the current pathway around the river to continue, and will add a variety of seating areas that extend into the river. This lower level of the Museum provides outdoor amphetheater-like experiences for various levels of the river height, and when the river is to the embankment level the Museum will seam to be floating, with the river surrounding it.

Three layers in section; The river level, the main entry level (support level), and the upper exhibit space level. The museum was designed to function and react to the changing levels of the river.

The southern most tip of the island is the outdoor courtyard/ amphetheatre where gatherings and performances can be held. The Ponte Rotto “Broken Bridge” provides the backdrop to the courtyard.
