• She appeared in Gruelle's 1918 Raggedy Ann Stories

• In 1920, Gruelle created her brother, Raggedy Andy

Monopoly:

• In 1934, at the height of the great depression • Charles B. Dorrow created monopoly & showed

• it to the executive Parker Bros.

• In 1935, Monopoly was America's best selling game.• Today, over 200 million games have been sold.

• The longest game lasted 70 days!

Slinky

• Invented in the early 1940's

• First displayed in a Philadelphia toy store

• The Slinky was inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame in 2000

Play-Doh• Originally used as a wallpaper cleaner

• Popular as a toy during the 1950's

•First appeared in the late 1950's

•Barbie dolls cause a lot of controversy

• Invented in 1974

•As of January 2009, 350 million cubes have been sold

Created in 1989 by Nintendo

• Released in 2006, also by Nintendo

• First major console to utilize body movements

• As of December 2011, the Wii beats the Xbox 360 and the PS3 in terms of sales
