Nina’s Nook --A Message from the Director The Importance of Being
Earnest…About Checking In on
Copilot & Why It Matters!
We know, we really harp on everybody about
“did you check in” about a billion times a
week, but we swear we wouldn’t do it if there
wasn’t a really good reason behind it—in fact
there are many, so we will share…
The Top Ten Reasons To Check In
With Copilot: 10. We may get more funding if we can show
how many people use our Center
9. More funding means more classes and
things we can offer our seniors
8. United Way is funding some of our volunteer
efforts and needs to see volunteer hours
7. We need hours and names of volunteers so
they can be recognized for our Volunteer
Appreciation Celebration
6. We need to know who is in the building in
case of emergency
5. Knowing how many people attend different
classes and events helps us know which
programs etc. people are interested in more of
4. For the County, we must verify who ate each
“special lunch of the day” we order
3. It makes the Greeter’s job easier
2. It makes Nina happy!
1. When we achieve 100% of people checking
themselves in correctly we promise to stop
pestering you about it! : )
Honestly, we appreciate all your hard work
in assisting us in this matter.
ITEMS FOR SALE! On an unrelated note—thanks to Mary Rose &
others, we are cleaning & organizing the
center! So we have some stuff for sale as a
fundraiser for your Center—computer monitors,
fitness equipment, puzzles—you name it we
probably got it! So feel to ask about what we
have for sale when you stop by—thanks!
MANY THANKS TO… Michael Keaton for a donation in memory
of his mother Doris Keaton
Donation in memory of Thelma Wright
Mary Rose for helping us to clean and
organize!
American Legion for the TV donation.
Everyone who helped & participated with
our major events so far this year: Super
Bingo, Craft Show & the Volunteer
Appreciation Celebration, and throughout
the year--your continuing support helps us
to achieve our mission and increase our
community reach!

Sansone, Heritage Hospice, Interim, Randee

OPT Reminders OPT provides door-to-door transportation service to
the Plum Community Center (PCC) for just a $1.10
each way, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am-3:30
pm. Drivers will provide help getting on and off the
vehicle and down four or fewer steps.
To Schedule a Ride
- Call your local carrier before 3:00 pm, one
weekday before your trip. (Friday for a Monday trip)
and provide your information.
- Rides to PCC can be scheduled by calling the
center directly at 412-795-2330, or in person by
signing up in the transportation book at the
greeter’s desk by noon the day before. If the senior
is unable to sign themselves up for transportation,
Plum Community Center will make every effort to
sign them up; however it is the responsibility of a
family member or caretaker to make sure they are
signed up in order to receive transportation. Our
greeters will be happy to help you when you call in
each week to sign up your senior for transportation.
For trips to PCC activities outside the Center, the
programming department will schedule the
transportation from PCC to the destination and
from the destination back to PCC. It is up to each
individual to arrange for their own transportation to
PCC and back home after the trip. They can do
this by following the “To Schedule a Ride”
mentioned above.
In order to take advantage of OPT, you must be
registered and have funds in your "E-Purse"
account.
Notes about OPT Pick-ups
- Be ready to leave 10 minutes before your
scheduled pickup time as drivers will wait only five
minutes for you to come out.
- You do not have to wait outside
- Wait at least 20 minutes after scheduled pick-up or
30 minutes from "will call" before calling. After
waiting, call 412-562-5385 to verify vehicle's
whereabouts.
- In case of hazardous weather service may be
halted by the transportation company. Keep the
path between your door and the street clear of
snow and ice as drivers may not stop for you if the
path is not safe for you or them.
- If you need to cancel, call 412-562-5385 at least
one hour before your scheduled pick-up time to
cancel. "No-show" will be recorded if the vehicle
arrived but you were not there. Repeated "no-
shows" may result in loss of your OPT privileges by
the transportation company.
