Analytic Cubism• In Cubism, the subject matter is broken up (fractured), analyzed, and reassembled in an

abstracted form. Instead of depicting objects from one viewpoint, the artist depicts the subject from a multitude of viewpoints to represent the subject in a greater context. Often the surfaces intersect at seemingly random angles, removing a coherent sense of depth.

• Analyzes the form of the objects by shattering them into fragments spread out on the canvas. “Art that consists of inventing and not copying”

• Pioneered by: Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque.

Project Objective:• To create an original Cubism inspired (face or non-objective) design

on a three-dimensional Styrofoam head. • To utilized paper Mache techniques and apply a base coat to create a

surface to paint/draw on. • Acceptable medium for designing: Acrylic painting, Marker, Magazine
