PHOTOGRAPHYDSLR – The Basics!

CONTROL OF LIGHT, MOTION AND BACKGROUND

SHUTTER SPEED

Shutter Speed is controlled by the dial called TV

It means how quickly the camera takes the photography

If the camera takes it really quickly 1/2000 – not much light can get into the sensor, so you need a bright day or good lighting.

If the camera takes the picture slowly 1/30 more light can get in but as it takes longer … the picture may have changed!!

DIFFERENT SHUTTER SPEEDS

EXAMPLES USING WATER

DEPTH OF FIELD

Aperture

Depth of field (Amount of the image in focus) is controlled by the Av dial

A high number f16 means that a lot of the image will be in focus and have detail

A low number f2.8 means that a lot of the image will have a blurry background

THE SMALLER THE APERTURE – THE LESS LIGHT…. BALANCE WITH SHUTTER SPEED

REMEMBER WHERE TO FOCUS!
