SituationWho? Students and Teachers. What? Students using their phones in education.

QuestionHow can students be allowed to use their phones in school and not be distracted?

Key InsightPupils download the app and during certain times (chosen by the school) certain apps are disabled - for example you can block the means that you will not be distracted during lessons.

Mini Elevator PitchOur team is called charge of the lycra brigade. we are developing an app to help solve the problem of phones in school. We are going to solve this problem by producing an app that will block certain apps - ones that can become distracted.

User ProfilesTeacher - Doesn’t want students using apps and visiting websites that have no link to their work in the lesson.

Student - Wants to be allowed to use a phone in school.

Apps that already existApp block - but it has some problems running it i.e can be slow in functions or crash.

MVP The MVP would contain only the function of the app; stopping pupils using their phones in lessons that don’t aid or may hinder their education. It would not have the ability to purchase a subscription.

Flow of appThe Lite version will take you to a screen where you are asked to assign your device to an administrator using a key

Once you have entered the key and passcode, you will be told that your device is assigned and you may exit the app.

On the screen there will be an option to un-assign your device from the admin.

On the pro version there will be an option to view your unique key and password, you can also edit properties for the devices assigned to your settings and view assigned devices.

FeasibilityAfter having a discussion between our team and a teacher, we came to the conclusion that this app is a feasible idea, perhaps minus the idea to have a subscription which unlocks further features such as being able to choose your own apps to block.

Business careWe decided that students probably wouldn’t want to pay for this app, while teachers would be willing. Therefore we decided on a lite and pro version, lite allows you to assign your device to the settings set by someone using the pro version.

i.e. students get the free app and assign their phone to the settings designed by a teacher using the pro version.

Marketing strategyWe are going to have a monthly subscription that the schools will have to pay. This way we will have a constant income.

Students will be able to access the app for free, only schools will have to pay for the service.

WildcardWe would like to use a subscription system for payment, schools would pay monthly for the pro service, students would still get it completely free of charge.
