resources people are very busy and often don’t have much time to discuss the specifics of your background and expertise.

He/she might have a list of questions to ask you to determine if you will be chosen for an in-person interview.

Be precise and concise in your answers, and make sure that you have fulfilled his/her expectations.

Step 2: Know how much time you have with your interviewerIf a hiring manager can

speak with you, you may have a little more time as compared with HR.

In fact, you might have time to discuss your accomplishments and your fit for the job, the company and the culture.

Tell the interviewer the 3 things he/she should know about you before the end of the call.

Make sure he/she knows why you want to join the company.

with the same preparation and professionalism as you would a face-to-face interview:Have your resume and samples

in front of you.Research the company.Ask questions.

voice and body language, even by phone.

Develop a rapport with your interviewer.

Smile – because it will be heard in your voice.

Remember – your job is to get an in-person meeting.

Keep children and pets out of earshot.

Don’t conduct your phone interview in public places such as coffee shops.

Find a quiet spot, even if it’s inside your car.
