First, I want to thank Stella for continue communicating to me
through emails. She is a big way for the pursuance of this
project. Thank you for your perseverance in reading my long
message. For President Ryan, I want to appreciate your effort
and your union to Stella and most especially your decisions to
make this project possible. To the 4 ISD (Stella, Seesea, Soup
and Angel), thank you for your coordination and facilitating.
Thank you very much Seesea and Arman for coming ahead of
the team. You are such a big help to me in communicating to
the rest of members when they were still in Hong Kong.
It’s been a great privilege to conduct an International
Joint-Project which was hosted by Rotaract Club of Makati West for the first time.
Honestly, it was not an easy job to facilitate this kind of activities hence, through the
decisive and eagerness to pursue this community act, all went well and successful. I
really want to thank the Rotaract Club of New Territories, Hong Kong for providing all the
necessary resources to make this project successful and meaningful. Your resources
and our manpower arrangement make the International Service done smoothly. Actually,
without your club’s existence, this will not happen. Your choice of having your
International Service Trip was not in vain. Your heart of giving was a great help for those
needy Filipino people. We’ve been a part of their lives and somehow uplifted their
economic status. We all have sacrificed for this event knowing that it is Holy Week
(Easter) here and holiday to Hong Kong. Yet, you chose to be here to be a helping hand to
those needy. We even created a better community by painting the wall in Barangay West
Rembo, Makati City which also promote the Rotaract’s Motto; “Fellowship through
Service”. We enjoyed doing the said activity while creating harmony between Rotaractors
of different countries. It is not easy to arrange everything for this Joint-Project and being
the host club which led by a 19 year-old (4th year graduating student and scholar of the
Rotary Club of Makati West) however, by the help of my supportive family, all went well,
successful, meaningful and unforgettable! ^_^ I also want to extend my heartful thanks
to other Rotaract Clubs who willingly joined and participated this event, Katy Leung of
Kwai Chung, Daniel Wong of Kingspark, Kenny Kwong of Hong Kong Northeast, last but
not the least to Chinese Volunteers from Hong Kong. We are very grateful and lucky to
found your club as our international Service Partner for a joint-Project. You are not only
a blessing to other Filipino but also with our club and to my family.

The joint service project, Philippines
Cultural and Service trip, between Rotaract
Club of Makati West, Philippines and
Rotaract Club of New Territories, Hong
Kong has already been accomplished. It is
our honor to be the person-in-charge of
this service project.
Firstly, we would like to express our wholehearted thanks to our service partner, the
Rotaract Club of Makati West. During the 5-day trip, you all devoted a lot accompanying
us for the service projects, the cultural exchange activities and also sightseeing.
Especially for Angel and her family, who dedicated lots of efforts in contacting the
service partners, arranging the transportation and preparing the materials needed
during the project. Also for Tatay Denis, who helped for escorting all of our members
and looking after our personal belongings in order to ensure our security during the
journey. And for Jowek, who assisted Angel to achieve numerous tasks during the
activity.
Secondly, we wanted to thank our mother club, the Rotary Club of the New Territories,
who generously supported the donations to the children and typhoon victims in the
Philippines. Special thanks to President Dee, DRC Frederick and Dr. Lee for their
guidance and advice, and Andrew, who provided our accommodation during the trip.
Without all these support from our mother club, the trip would not be as successful as
it was!
Finally, we would like to say thank you to all of our participants. Every one of you
contributed a lot in this service project. We will never forget the efficient production
line and the rice packing group when we were preparing for the donations, the
cleansing teams who cleaned our apartment thoroughly every night, and the generous
donations of digital devices and souvenirs to our service partner.
Once again, thank you the Rotaract Club of Makati West, the Rotary Club of the New
Territories and all participants in this trip. We look forward to cooperating with all of
you again in future service projects!

I am very glad to meet all of you. You are all sweet, happy to be with, jolly, always
smiling and very generous. Actually, before I met you, I really felt a bit afraid and
ashamed because I don’t know how would I adjust to your beliefs and perceptions. I
don’t know what to say and even wonder how would I introduce our country. It’s a bit
burden to reminisce all those historical events long time ago. ^_^ But, It was such a
great moment that we could present truly who and what Filipinos are. It’s also
flattering to know that you all enjoyed being with us over the last 5 days of your stay
here. Truly, I am so tired and stressed about this event knowing that I am the Head
overall these perhaps, through the help of the special people in my life especially my
family (mom), Tatay’s family and my supportive and active members, I could easily
handle all the arrangements smoothly. I even forgot the pains in my body because I
enjoy being with you all! I believe that without the help of my Advisers, I can’t stand
alone to these big project. I admit that, I was really sick during the joint-project
especially on Painting Activity which I almost lost my energy and broke down my
stamina, but I had to be strong in order to make all things in order. Haha, losing my
voice is not easy but I’m very thankful to Jowek (one of my active member) in
substituting my position of hosting and leading the people in respective areas. Also,
I’m very thankful to our Nanays’ and Tatays’ who always gave me advises and brilliant
ideas on how we could maneuver the situations. They even guided us leading to the
place where you wanted to have your sight-seeing. Truly I say that because of you, we
reached the places we have never gone through ever. You really have a great sense of
humor and very understanding. I really have thousands of memories to each one of
you. I’m very overwhelmed that I taught you our dances, our folksongs, special talents,
games, break claps (beat), playing guitar and many more! I really enjoyed being with
you and I will never forget those days we chatted together, sang together, danced
together, laughed and cried together. I will always miss all of you. I’m so much
grateful and blessed to have friends like you. I am deeply impressed about your job
position in Hong Kong and it makes me more eager to have a better placement in the
future!
Most of all, I really want to extend my deep gratitude and thanksgiving because of your
gift of appreciation to me. Actually, having my own Digital Camera is my most desire
long time ago. I’m always praying to have one but I never expected that this will be
granted through you. Thanks Kenny! ^_^ you are such a blessing to me and also to
Jenny who donated her camera for the club! ^_^

Power of the Dream (A song dedicated for you)
Your mind will take you far Feel the flame forever burn
The rest is just pure heart Teaching lessons we must learn
You’ll find fate is all your own creation To bring us closer to the power of the dream
Every boy and girl The world unites in hope and peace
As they come into this world We pray that it will always be
They bring the gift of hope and inspiration It is the power of the dream that brings us here
I wasn’t able to attend all the activities but fortunately I had a chance to come and
know the Rotaractors from the New Territories, Hong Kong. They were good
hearted people who knew how to help others that are truly in need. The
Rotaractors were very friendly and although I did not spend a lot of time with them,
I can truly say that the Rotaractors of the Rotaract Club of Makati West and the
Rotaractors from the Rotaract Club of New Territories built a long lasting
friendship. I had a great time with them and I hope that our club and their club
could have a fellowship again.
Joining Rotaract Club of Makati West Activities is such rewarding and fulfilling.
Rotaract Club of Makati West organizes different projects and activities under
professional development, leadership development and service projects. Through
these activities, it provides a variety of experience and opportunities for the
personal development of each Rotaractor.
The joint project of the Rotaract Club of Makati West and Rotaract New territories
is a unique and very interesting activity. I’ve really enjoyed the activities that we
have done. I’ve enjoyed sharing my thoughts and some stories to the Rotaractors
of the New Territories. I’ve enjoyed laughing, singing and joining them in our
activities. I have learnt some Chinese words, games and my knowledge about their
culture has been broadened. If I try to remember the memories, moments and the
experiences it makes me feel happy. These activity made me realize how important
the values of every person. I’ve realized that money and all the material things
that we have in our life fades but the good and bad things or the memories
whether how good or bad it is remain in the mind.
I will miss the Rotaractors of New Territories they are all kind and friendly. I hope
we can have another joint project with them and in this time the Rotaractors of
Makati West will be the ones to visit Hong Kong.

First of all I want to thank God for all of the blessings that he gave to us.
Second, I really want to thank the Rotaract Club of New Territories, Hong Kong
because they let the joint-projects became successful, they gave their time and
effort to the project and we really appreciated all of those sacrifice. Without
them these things will not able to happen, many of in-needs are blessed, many
of poor are helped through the donations, and because of these projects, we
the Filipinos experienced a lot of things and works..
Thanks to my sister, Angelica Caynila Accad for being a good president, if there
is no Angel, maybe the things might not happen, because my sister went to
Singapore last November 2009 for APRRC meeting, and then she found many
friends and after she went back home, she realized that many of the people
and communities here in our country need someone helps, then she invited the
Rotaractors of New Territories, HK to have a joint-project here in the
Philippines. I as a volunteer Rotaractor, I experienced a lot of things and at my
young age I already have an opportunity to serve people and the community
itself through the Rotaract Club of New Territories, Hong Kong.
We really thank all of you guys…we did an extraordinary teamwork, we helped
a lot of people and also the community. We won’t forget this event.. Thank you
Rotaract Club of New Territories.
I’m Elijah Jay C. Accad, a 14 year-old boy. I contribute my effort as a volunteer
in the previous joint-Project of Rotaract Club of New Territories, Hong Kong
and the Rotaract Club of Makati West, Philippines. My sister Angelica Accad,
current President of the RAC Makati West, asked me to join and help them. I’m
so blessed being part of this event. I was amazed when I met all the
Rotaractors from Hong Kong. They are very kind and generous. Some of the
Filipinos are blessed by giving their donations (food) to the poor. It’s a big
blessings for all of us to be acquainted, lots of unforgettable and memories,
lots of fun and sharing. I do hope and pray that someday it will happen again
someday. I hope to see you next time around! Thank you very much and God
bless ^_^

and Seesea (Ms. Orange) thank you for giving me support from the very beginning that we met. Best
Friends four of you will remain from the bottom of my heart. TO-TE-SAI, BAO CHONG and O-OI-LEI.
I had really fun and also great memorable experience when Rotaract Club of New
Territories of Hong Kong visited here in the Philippines for the joint project activities
with us Rotaract Club of Makati West, last April 2-6, 2010.
It was really such a great opportunity for me and also to our club to have them, meet
them personally and to know well each one of them.
As we companied them for 5 days, we have known each other well. We shared laughter,
happiness, and culture and of course became friendship. Also, we Rotaract Club of
Makati West showed them how we Filipinos are great in some aspects for having a
great welcome when there are visitors. We showed them how Filipinos are very
hospitable and of course friendly.

In this photo we went to Manila Cathedral on the 1st day of
their sightseeing…
I was so happy that I went here for the first time with them
NT Hong Kong
Here we wore our national costumes or attire to have one
unity despite of different ultures and languages. I remember
that this night we had a very memorable party because here
we sang, danced, laughed, played games and became friends
In this photo, we had our lunch in the Market2x after
painting the wall in Brgy West Rembo.. So many delicious
food and great bonding with each other. We taught them
how the way we ate our foods here in the Philippines..
After we donate relief goods in Pasig, we proceed to East
Rembo Sports Complex to play games and of course share
our country games. Here we had great time bonding to each.
Even though we were tired, we made ourselves free and
strong so we could share laughter and happiness..
I’m so very happy that I experienced all of this. I am very much thankful to Rotaract
club of New Territories and also to Rotaract Club of Makati West by having me for this
wonderful opportunity and experienced. So that I promise that I will continue to serve
my mankind and of course all people who are in need. I surely miss u with all my
heart. I Love you all especially to Rotaract Club.
Mabuhay! The Joint Rotaract Project of Rotaract Club of New Territories, Hong
Kong and Rotaract Club of Makati West, Philippines has been one of
the best and successful activities of Rotaract.
We had a wonderful time together doing charitable work like visiting
typhoon devastated area, street children, children in conflict with law
(CICL) and wall painting.
Uniting two different culture and Rotaract as one was not that easy,
but because of the willingness and communication that both the
Rotaract clubs commited it has been possible and now a success.
From the beginning until the end, from the cultural night and
welcoming party until the last dinner and farewell brunch, I will never
forget the bonding moments and shared stories.
The laughers and tears we shed before you left, the memories that we had it was kept
here, between us and all of you now and forever will keep us through.
How can I start the beginning? Actually I’m not a member of
ROTARACT. But I remember that all of members of ROTARACT
considered me as one of the members. I’m very thankful and
appreciate for that. It was great experience and it will exist in our
mind for a good memory. I learned from this activity that we are
organized as community in the society and the world and we can
feel, help and love each other.
Almost all the people are busy to struggle for living their own life.
So we are missing some great values of our life. That was me. This
is a great opportunity that we share and spread our things and love
with our friends. It gave me a lesson what I was missing. We are separated and living
each others own life and just turn away the others life. But if we look, share, and love
each other, the happiness will become bigger and bigger and our society will be
healthful also. I’m very thankful for that there are many people who are doing what I
mention about that even this moment and really respect who are putting effort to find
out someone who are avoided in our society and trying to share love with them and
working for social welfare. It was great time, share and love with our neighbors, and
joined with another nationality friends and share the cultures, language, especially for
the same reason, for the same goal, we were together. That was the point. We exist as
different nationalities or as private person, but we are the one, we are the world.

Dear Sir/Madam:
Please be informed that the Rotaract Club of New Territories, Hong Kong arrived in
the country last 2 April 2010 thru the Rotaract Club of Makati West concurrent
President, Angelica Liezl C. Accad. They have planned/arranged thru Email and led
activities from April 3 to 6, 2010 such as: Giving grocery goods as compassion to
less fortunate families at Barangay Pineda, Pasig City, a visitation and giving
grocery good as comfort to all inmates of minor age who have conflict with law
under the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Barangay Tejeros,
Makati City. Painting of walls along the bridge wall of C-5 Road in Barangay West
Rembo, Makati City as part of cleanliness and beautification projects and to the
families as victims of floods of typhoon “Ondoy” in Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City,
including organizational meeting. It was very tedious yet challenging socio-civic
and charitable activities.
I, being the mother of Angelica Liezl C. Accad, assisted her in coordinating and
planning from the very beginning until the course activities and under control
including needed service vehicles used from/to the residence area of
Rotaractor’s/officers/members up to sites, and asked security officer, investigator
as their protector who conducted brief orientation in security procedure upon their
arrival and other matters. It also appeared that some officers/members of the
Rotaract Club of Makati West were not so attentive and didn’t actively helped to my
daughter (Angel) as their President especially during the times when they are
needed the most prior to the arrival of Chinese Rotaractors and during the course
of the activities. I, as a mother, did not waste time to assist my loving daughter in
helping her plans and program for her leadership to make these activities very
successful. I even furtively hired the services of key personnel; even my 2 sons
(Francis and Jay) were included in the group to maintain personnel protection to
all Hong Kong Rotaractors and their personal belongings. I requested the services
of security officers who act as a security aide in Guardian for protection of the well
being of all Rotaractors, most especially the Hong Kong nation for every event in
every area.
The local government units of above cited Barangays we have visited were so
thankful. Thanks to all the Rotaract Club of New Territories, Hong Kong for their
warm support. They were recognized of their warm support during their visitation
to those affected people in those concerned places. They have been closely
acquainted in my heart even a short period of time we have been together which I
really miss them so much. Hope they might not forget me most especially my
daughter Angel. I am also thanking you all for giving a token of gratitude. A whole
heartedly thanks to President Ryan Chu, International Service Directors: Seesea
Tam, Stella Yip, Soup Suen and Angel Fung. I hope and pray to Almighty God, for His
goodness that my daughter be given a job opportunity in New Territories, Hong
Kong after her College Graduation this coming 27th day of April 2010 at University
of Makati, Metro Manila. I am thanking you all in advance for whatever assistance
you may extend to my daughter Angelica Liezl.
God bless you all! Mabuhay! I love you so much!
Very truly yours,
Adelaida “Ella” C. Accad (Nanay)

That in my heart While made a big intense

Working together for all of these

They help Filipino people in every way
And by these, “doh je sai” is all I can say
I hope that they enjoy their trip

To all my sons and daughters,
Hi guys! Greetings from the Lord Jesus
Christ! Just want to let you know that it
was such a wonderful experience having
you here in the Philippines. Though it was
just a short stay, my family and I enjoyed every bit of everyone’s good sense of
humor. Each one of you has each own way in making us feel a sense of belonging.
As children, all of you had been very obedient to Tatay and Nanay even I was not
already around to watch over you. This is just an indication of showing your
respect to me. And I’m so pleased for what you’ve done for me.
While I was looking at the pictures, I can’t help but smile seeing the laughable
moments when I look at you playing around even when inside our service vehicle.
The most memorable event was during the farewell party at Dampa and Pancake. I
did not expect the surprises and gifts you all prepared for my family, especially
the financial assistance in the form of a “blessing” where I’m sure all of you have
contributed for it. It was really a big help because I am not yet working right now.
To all of you, just always put in mind, you have a very special place in our hearts.
All of you will always be my sons and daughters through the rest of my life! Most
especially to Arman, Seesea, Angel and Stella who had been closest to Tatay
because I spent most of the time with them.
My dear sons and daughters, remember this, be true to yourself always, love one
another, especially your enemies, because LOVE is the main purpose of our
existence in this world. If you have some problems to share, call me! Tatay has a
big shoulder where you can lean and cry on.
Nanay and Denden misses you all too.
Wherever I am, wherever I go, all of you will always be here in my heart! I Love you
all!
With much love,
Tatay Dennis, Nanay Miriam and Denden

I’m honored and very happy to be a part of this joint project of Rotaract
Club of New Territories and Rotaract Club of Makati West. To what
happened during the five days we’ve been together is more than I
expected. And I thank God for giving me an unforgettable experience
like this.
2 April 2010, the first day you arrived here in the Philippines, it maked
me excited. I’s wondering of many things about your group. And to be
honest, I got shy when I saw all of you. At first, I found it hard to
express myself. But as time went by, it seemed to be good and easy
because all of you were very friendly.
Then in our trip, many things happened. We enjoyed doing it together.
We laughed and talked about things particularly our culture. Time went
by, it really made me happy and wanted to be with you all the time, as if
you’re my brothers and sisters. So when the day came that you were
going to leave, it made me feel sad. Surely, I will miss all of you.
I couldn’t sleep, the night after you left, because I knew that my life is
back to normal. I’s asking myself, what I’m going to do tomorrow. Sad
to accept those 5 days with you was done. I wish we could have more
time to be with.
I will miss those days we were together. Those days we went
sightseeing; helped people in need, partied with singing and dancing,
and specially took our pictures. Haha. I really had fun.
I will miss your company too, specially Ar-man and Jack whose my
closest friends among the group. But I also want to have chance to be
close to others. Get to know more with Aaron, Angel, Anniqa, Carol,

This Easter Philippines I.S. Trip is extremely wonderful. It will be unforgettable in my
lifetime. It does not only allow me to have some understanding about Philippines, but
also lets me experience the first time of holding activities with Rotaract Club in other
country. To me, it is very significant! Five days are really short, really not enough for me
to have a deep understanding with Philippines as well as the Rotaract Club of Makati
West. In fact, to everybody, it’s just a start……
Thanks all for this wonderful trip! As the
External Vice-President of NTRAC, I want to
say "sorry" and "thank you" to my beloved
best friends in Rotaract - our lovely four little flowers - Stella, Seesea, Angel and Soup.
Sorry I didn't give enough help to you all in organizing the trip, but I have much
confidence in you four. Thank you! Your passion and detailed mind definitely contributes
to our invaluable memories. The trip is excellent!
It's the first time NTRAC organizes an overseas trip. Luckily, we met Angel and Rotaract
Club of Makati West. Thank you very much Angel, you gave us unlimited support
throughout the trip. You are such a responsible and charm leader. We cannot complete
this trip without your help! Thanks also your lovely Mum! I can feel her love to you and
also to us. I feel so warm being with you!
Jowek and Ella, I miss you two so much! Thanks Jowek for accompanying us all the times!
I know you did a lot for this trip. I won't forget your sweet detailed mind to make us name
tag and your first greeting to me! Ella, I won't forget the party at last night of the trip!
Really wish we could meet again and have fun together! Sure there are lots of others I
should thank, Mona, Francis, Tatay, Jay, Mauren, Vincent, Nok, Denden....really thank for
your accompany and smiles!
It's more than a sightseeing tour, much more than a service trip, it is an international
exchange. A real exchange of feelings, ideas, thoughts and lives! Though we don't even
know a bit of each other, but owing to this trip, we met and we became friends! It's the
magic of Rotaract: Fellowship through Service!

Impressed
Before coming to the Philippines, I expect to enjoy a relaxing trip. However, I found that
the member from Hong Kong and the Philippines prepared a lot for the trip. From the
first day to now, I could feel your passion in making friend with me. From your
preparation, the time we played together and your souvenirs, I can totally feel your
enthusiasm. I enjoy the trip very much and glad to make friend with you, thus I would like
to thank for your effort.
I am impressed by the effort from the host. You all spent a lot of time accompanying us
in these days. Also you introduced a lot about the Philippines culture. In the first day, I
still remember we shared the weather in the AUV. I enjoyed your performance in the
culture night, the dinner with karaoke and your introduction of the Philippines. Until now,
I am happy that we could still chat in Facebook and revise the memory. I hope that we
could keep this wonderful friendship.
Also, I am surprised in making close friend with the participants from Hong Kong. I took
part in other service trips in China. The relationship with the participants of the
Philippines service trip is closer than that of other service trips. I cannot get the reason,
but I guess we have same vision and dedication like devoting long holiday, time on
preparation and effort in serving the people in need. Besides that, I enjoyed the night
with you in Mongkok. I was happy in sharing my views and understanding each other in
the card game.
I want to give a special thanks to the
organizers of this trip who are Angel, Joel,
Seesea, Stella and other organizers in the trip.
You all organized an excellent service trip
which brings all participants many memories.
In this trip, the activities were prepared for
long time and in details like the venue of
Culture Night, the help for CICL, street
children and the victims of typhoon, the
sightseeing location, the food, etc. Also, I know
that you all worked for the trip until around 4
am every night. Fortunately your effort rewards with the success of the trip like the help
for the people in need, the unforgettable memory of participants and the culture
exchange of Hong Kong and the Philippines.
Thanks all of you for brining me happy time and memory!

This 5-Night-4-Day Philippines Cultural Exchange
and Service Trip was the first overseas service
trip I have ever joined. Totally different from the
past service trips targeted at Mainland China, I
experienced to provide other types of meaningful
service to the needy groups, for example,
donations and visits to street children, juvenile
delinquents and local victims who suffered from
natural disaster. Most importantly, this trip added
on a cultural exchange element through five-day
close contact with members from the Rotaract
Club of Makati West of the Philippines, in which, I
gained an in-depth recognition on a country,
especially its local culture. Until now, I can still
vividly recall every wonderful moment during the trip, such as our efficient cooperation
on buying and packaging the donations, the Karaoke night, the wall painting activity, the
time that we learnt local language and games, the “big joke” in Cultural Exchange Night,
etc. All these pieces consolidate to give me fruitful memories to recall times and again
after coming back to Hong Kong, and they will definitely be kept as an important part in
my permanent memory.
Apart from broadening my horizon and experiencing life difference there, one most
treasurable thing is that we all build up an invaluable friendship among Hong Kong
trip-mates and with members from Rotaract Club of Makati West. Even though coming
back to Hong Kong, we can still keep very frequent contact through facebook and share
personal updated news all the time. Here, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to
all the Filipinos who helped and looked after all of us within those five days, in particular,
family of Tatay, family of Angel and all other members from Rotaract Club of Makati West.
We really lived as a big family in the whole trip. I believe this is a lifelong relationship,
and our strong bonding will never be destroyed.
Quite a number of friends asked me about the significance on joining service trips. I will
say I may not be able to give my service targets a lot, but I can definitely gain a lot during
the process. I am looking forward to have the chance to join the next service trip, and I
hope you will also think so, too.

Friendship not forever!!!
To be frankly, I usually believed that as time goes on, we will forget what we have said,
what we have wished and what we have promised, even though we really made that wish
from the bottom of our hearts. That’s why I would like to treasure our friendship at the
time when I knew you, the time when I played with you and the time I could still see and
touch you! All what we have done will in my memory forever! And I have no regret!
However, what I felt and saw that you have done make me really touching. Every day
being with you, I felt your passion to make friend with us. Although you were exhausted
every night, you tried your best to preparing surprise for us. I understand our happiness
and laughter must covering many toil and sweat, but you were very professional as
Rotaractors of Makati West that I didn’t feel any hardship on your face. We are very
appreciated for your efforts and proud of you.
Every one of you is very special to me! I cut all your face above is to make me feel you all
are here around me. Sometimes words really can’t express my feeling. This trip really
makes me very surprised. I never expected that a trip will change my life that much! I feel
your love, and people love each other.

At the very beginning, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the committee of
the Rotaract Club of New Territories. Thank you very much for the detailed arrangement
and thoughtful itinerary. All your effort and contribution worth high appreciation. It is
wishes that in the near future the Rotaract Club of New

on continuous phases.
Undoubtedly, the tremendous effort contributed by the Rotaract
Club of Makati West is another key factor for the success. I would
never forget the days spent in the Philippines, especially for
those beloved Philippines friends. Of course we enjoy every
moment being with you all, singing the song in a party on our
arrival day, hanging around in different city trips, having seafood
dinner on the last day. All are invaluable memories which are
eternal in our heart.
The end of the trip doesn’t mean the end of friendship. Even we
are apart from each other, we are all connected by love and
caring. Wish every one of you all the best ^^
Thanks all of you in the Philippines Trip. The trip lets me know
more new friends and gets more happiness. I know that all of
you have paid much effort on it. Thanks Angel and Joel taught
me dancing. Most unforgettable time is dancing and playing
guitar at Pasay Bay. Watched the sunset and enjoyed the
Star-Bucks Coffee. Also singing in the seafood restaurant put
me at the highest point of the trip. I will never forget you. I will
miss you forever. Hope all of you enjoy the trip and being
happy all the time.
Thanks for your gifts. I will put them besides me.

Employees are looking for vacation, in which
they can relax, refresh and leave the working
place. Like others, I am waiting for vacation
before the Easter Holiday. On the other hand, I
would like to do something meaningful. That’s
why I chose to join international trip organized
by NTRac for the second time. Glad that I have
made a right decision.
Truly, I really enjoy this trip very much. There
are a lot of things for me to treasure. Among
them, I should mention YOU, people I met during the trip. I would like to take this
opportunity to express my feeling and gratitude to all of YOU.
To all Filipino that I met during the trip:
The culture night is very impressive to me. I did not expect that we could be that close
on the first night. Thank you for dressing up traditionally; introducing those funny
games to us; singing and dancing; preparing balut for us.
Your accompaniment during the trip is very warm. Thanks for your detail planning
everyday; actively teaching us local games, language, song and how to dance;
introducing tourism spot, Filipino history and culture to us even we might not get it;
sharing your story, life, happiness and sadness to us.
I really appreciate all of you and I won’t forget all the happy moment that we have
shared.
To all Hong Kong tripmates:
“It is easy to meet each other, but it is difficult to live together.” I agree with this quote.
However, I do not feel any difficulties to live with you. The reason is: all of you are very
KIND and NICE. Thanks for the house and minibus that we could chat, play, joke,
prepare gift, write postcards, swim together from morning until mid night. Hope that
we can keep contact with each other and have more gathering in the coming future.

To describe the NTRac X Makati West Philippines Trip, it is more suitable for me to name
it as a cultural exchange & sharing trip. As to me, it is what the “people” add colors and
makes the 5-days trip specially meaningful, as well as memorable.
To know a place, it is more direct and prominent to learn it from the local people - the
food (balut!!!), the songs, the dances, the mini-games, the smiles, the ghost stories
(haha), the customs, the mangoes, the language etc. Honestly, I was really impressed by
everyone of you, Makati Rotaracters, who are just so sincere, energetic, genuine and
talented. Simply a word - Great!
As one of the participants, I truly appreciate every little thing that you guys (BOTH the
NTRac & Makati Rotaracters!) prepared. The hand-drawing banners, the name tags, the
breakfast, the bottled water…. I felt so warm and touched by every of these and all the
caring & thoughtful arrangement! Thanks for all the efforts!
Even it’s just a 5-day trip, it makes a difference in my life! It reminded me one important
thing – Simplicity means happiness.
Maybe one day, I will forget the places that I’ve visited, but I WON’T forget our smiling
faces throughout the trip.
Last but not the least, THANK YOU EVERYONE! SALAMAT PO! =)
It has been almost a month since this international service trip, my mind keeps popping
up the unforgettable moments of this trip: the cultural night party, wall painting, buying
donation materials, donation to the typhoon victims, dancing with the street children and
many other happy moments with my dear trip-mates from both Hong Kong and the
Philippines.
Before the trip, I often thought that to participate in this trip was to serve others and to
help people, but after the trip I found that I received more than I gave. It is my pleasure
to meet great friends. You are so enthusiastic to serve and to care for others. This trip
also re-energized me and made me to keep going positively when facing difficulties from
my work. Special thanks to my dearest friends from the Philippine. Thanks for helping us
to organize such meaningful service programs and be with us all the time during the trip.
It’s so glad that we can still keep such close contact through facebook and email.

Salama po. Masaya ako. Thank you for your love & care, & for giving me a memorable
overseas service trip in Easter 2010.
“It's magical.” That's how I feel after the IS trip to the Philippines.
It's my first INTERNATIONAL service trip ever in my Rotaract life, and it’s my first time to
make friends with overseas Rotaractors.
You are originally strangers from a distant place, speaking different language & having
different kind of life.
After a few emails, we met in the airport.
You escorted us throughout the whole trip, even with your whole family.
You prepared itinerary for us.
You prepared music & dance for us.
You introduced us about your life & culture.
You made us souvenirs with your hands.
You laughed & cried because of us.
How could we develop trust with a group of strangers? Have we ever worried for being
ditched or kidnapped in an unfamiliar country?
It’s just because of 1 common identity, we were bonded together; didn’t even have a
second of doubt, and could be that devoted to each other.
This identity is just so magical. Thank you so much!
“fellowship through service”
I hope our friendship will persist.
Besides sweet memories, I also experienced certain level of introspection after the trip.
With lures & distractions around, we, Hong Kong Rotaractors could seldom concentrate
or devote ourselves to one thing persistently like Philippine Rotaractors (dance, music,
or even in preparing little art for the trip). We might have spent some time for an
interest before, and yet given up due to different excuses as we grew up; we might have
prepared a lot for the trip, and yet were imperfect to prepare more on introducing Hong
Kong culture to you.
“I am busy” is a common platitude for Hong Kong people to exempt from long-term or
in-depth commitment. That’s how we missed a lot of “minor” yet important things in life.
I hope this fortunate encounter of you & me did not only bring us playful memories, but
also personal growth & incentives to build a better community & peaceful world. This is
the ultimate reason for why we join together here.
“Come join the world of Rotaract You & me let's work for
what the world should be what the world should be :-) ”

Time flies but memory doesn’t fade. I still
remember Mona mentioned to me on the first
day that the Philippines is a country of
COLORS – Yes, our 5 days there were tinted by
the beauty of Filipinos…
You guys sent a warm welcome to us upon our
arrival. I could never expect the wonderful
banners and name tags prepared by you. It’s
your sincerity that bridged the two countries.
You then guided us around the country and
secured us along the way. On the first night,
we had the culture night that everyone bonded
together. We had several community services and site-seeing in the coming days. What I
treasured most was the genuine smile on everyone’s face – donation receivers had fun
with us disregard their difficult situations, friends from Makati West beamed with joy in
spite of hardship, and tripmates from Hong Kong showed their appreciation to the
strangers. Things went so well that I enjoyed every single moment in the lovely island.
It seemed like we were old friends even though we were only together for 5 days. We
shared our songs, games, languages, cultures and thoughts. All these turned into
laughter and tears that stay deep in our hearts. For me, the meaning of service lies in
the enjoyment of all involving parties and that’s what I experienced in this trip.
Friends, thanks for letting me know what fellowship through service is and brining me a
meaningful Easter holiday :) Love you, as always..

The international joint-service in the Philippines by
the Rotaract Club of Makati West and the Rotaract
Club of New Territories was successfully held from
2ndApril to 6thApril. I would like to express my
heartfelt thanks to the members from the Rotaract
Club of Makati West for providing us generous help
and support during the service trip. Special thanks
are given to President Angel who prepared and
coordinated the project excellently and contributed
tremendously to the success of the event. I also
thank Angel’s family and Tatay’s family for helping
keep things running smoothly during the entire program.
Over the past 6 years, our club has organized several service trips in mainland China
like Huizhou, Qianyuan, Hainan, etc. This year, we planned to extend our service to
another region. Seeing that Philippines was severely lashed and destroyed by typhoon
Ketsana last September, we decided to visit the devastated area and offer our care to the
typhoon victims. In spite of the regional distance, we kept close communication with our
great service partner, the Rotaract Club of Makati West led by President Angel and
eventually made the project possible and successful.
I would like to thank our mother club,
the Rotary of New Territories for
providing accommodation to us and
also donations to street children,
typhoon victims and children in
conflict with the law. In addition, I
would like to express my deep
appreciation to our IS directors, Stella,
Seesea, Angel and Soup who worked
for the project enthusiastically for
almost half a year. Last but not least, I
thank all participants for joining and
supporting our service.
Look forward to our upcoming international service trips to spread our care and love all
over the world.

The 5 days Philippines Cultural and Service trip has been
completed successfully. I tried hard to adapt myself to my
usual life when I went back Hong Kong. Every day I cannot
control myself to look at the photos on facebook to review
the memorable days we had in Philippines.
For the service projects, it is my first time to paint the wall
next to the road used by vehicular traffic. Even though it
was dangerous and dirty, all of our members put all of their
efforts to clean and paint the wall. I remembered one day
when our AUV passed through the road, we were so excited
when we saw the wall. It is because this wall belongs to us!
In addition, I cannot forget the time we bought and packed the donations. The rice
allocation process, the donation packing process and the delivery process were so
effective and happy. Although we were not able to have a close interaction with the
typhoon victims, street children and teenagers from CICL, I was very pleased when I saw
their smile on face once they received the donation. It is my honor to do for the others.
For the cultural exchange, I really enjoyed the cultural night. All of us dressed up in our
traditional costume, playing games and performing. I appreciate all of the Filipinos so
much that they all have their talent in arts. We taught each other our own language, our
songs and our culture. We talked and laughed in the AUV. Do you remember the Karaoke
night? We sang and danced together until midnight. It is so amazing that we are
strangers from different part of the world, but have developed a close friendship with
each other because of this 5 days trip.
I will never forget the time you accompany us in the airport when we are leaving. You told
me that our visit changed all of your lives so much. Because of our visit, it was the first
time for your club to hold the joint event with overseas Rotaract Club. Because of our
visit, it was the first time for you to visit Fort Santiago, Manila Cathedral and Tiendesitas
as the cost of entrance fee and transportation are too high. Because of our visit, it was
the first time for you to have lunch in Pancake House and dinner at the Dampa Market. I
was so touching and could not control myself from crying after you told me about that.
You know, you have also changed my life a lot. You give me an unforgettable and
meaningful Easter holidays. You let me know about your life and culture in Philippines.
More importantly, you bring me with a valuable friendship, which I treasure most in this
trip.
I especially want to give my wholehearted thanks to all of our participants. You all have
put lots of efforts and devoted yourself so much in the trip. It is my pleasure to develop
friendship with all of you. Also, friends from Makati, thanks for giving us a safe, smooth
and joyful journey in Philippines. I hope that we will meet again in the near future.
Salamat Po! My Friends!

This is the first time I have been to the Philippines. I felt very grateful that the tour is very
meaningful and exciting. Everything happened in the tour is of great value. I enjoyed the
cultural exchange with the local Rotaractors and in it I acknowledged many funny and
interesting things, like counting from one to ten by clapping the hands in a unique
rhythm, sitting in a low-ceiling truck with the capacity of ten people (or even more!!), the
boiled duck embryo with plenteous nutrients (I think I would try next time, but if Him is
here I would encourage him to try again >.<).
Apart from making a lot of great friends, it is highly appreciated to have social services
and cultural exchange with the local needy. What impressed me most is surely the
preparation of the material to juvenile delinquents. I found it meaningful as we can
contribute and share what we have with them. I still strongly remember when I handed in
the present to one of the teenagers, he smiled from heart and replied in a soft voice,
“Thank you’. I think this is the most sincere “Thank you” I have ever heard. I am pity
sure all of us feel the same.
At the end I would like to thank the effort attributed by both Rotaract Club of New
Territories and Rotaract Club of Makati West, I am looking forward to my next
Philippines Trip. ^.^
This trip is a love story. It is a story about love to strangers who are from another part of
the world, love to new friends who have just known for merely five days and love to family
who have taken care of us as if we were their kids.
Our love story begins with doing wall painting the first time in my life; playing Taylor
Swift's Love Story on guitar in cultural night; getting carts and carts of supplies in the
supermarket; visiting typhoon victims, street children and juvenile delinquents; singing
and dancing Making Melody In My Heart crazily in a parking lot; watching Manila Bay
sunset; and breaking into tears for surprising and touching gifts.
And yet, the story has not ended and will never come to an end because it just begins. I
know in the immediate future, we will and should see each other again and sing, "It's a
love story baby just say yesss".
Life is about taking actions, impacting on others and making a difference to the world.
Mother Teresa once said, “To keep a lamp burning, we have to keep putting oil in it. If we
want a love message to be heard, it has got to be sent out.” No one can do everything but
everyone can do something. So don’t hesitate, act now. Spread our story out today and
more love stories will be heard tomorrow.

*~ It’s a love story ~*
When we were little, we were taught to love
our parents, love our brothers/sisters and
love your friends.
When we grow up, we gradually find it
difficult to love and to trust. We are told to
be protective and cautious in the adult
world.
To our Filipino friends, we were just a group
of strangers. We have not cooperated
before, nor did we meet or even hear about each other before the trip. However, at the
end we were warmly welcomed and accompanied during the whole trip and a solid
friendship and trust has been developed among us. It was so magical and I wondered
why our love and trust could be developed in such a short period of time.
Our Filipino friends, though much younger than us, taught me the answer through their
actions -- we have to give before we take. They worked days and nights before our arrival
to make sure that all preparation work was completed, they accompanied us from 8 am
until midnight during our stay but they never complained, they honestly expressed
themselves and their feeling towards us – this is how they won our love and trust. To give
is the simplest way to develop love and trust, yet it is being forgotten by a lot of us.
“All people are connected in some way, be it a close friendship or a simple bond. A
simple decision may change the life of others in a way that you could not imagine.”-- It
was so thankful to organize and
participate in this trip. I love our
participants and our Filipino friends. To
participate in this trip may be just a minor
decision made in our life, but what we get
is far more than expected.
Time files and memory becomes faint.
However, I do believe that all of us will
remember our good friends in the
Philippines and what they taught us, with a
smile from the bottom of our heart.
