UMR 866
PhD Position available
UMR 866, Lipide Nutrition Cancer, Faculté de Médecineet de Pharmacie, 7 Bd Jeanne d’Arc, F21079, Dijon, France
Team : Heat Shock Protein. Cell Death cellular differentiation & tumorigenic properties
Early October, 1st, 2013 - 3 Years
A 3 Years funded PhD position is available at the Heat Shock Protein group of the UMR866, Lipide Nutrition Cancer, research center under the supervision of Dr. Garrido Carmen and Dr.Micheau Olivier.
TRAIL-induced apoptosis signaling regulation by HSPs :
Heat shock proteins and death-domain containing receptors of the TNF familly play a key role in controlling apoptosis and tumor progression. Inhibition of some HSPs increase apoptosis induced by TNF ligands including TRAIL and show promissing antitumour activity. However, although HSPs are known to regulate the function and stability of a large number of proteinsby affecting their sumoylation and /or ubiquitination, including proteins involved in the regulation of apoptosis at the mitochondrial level, the molecular mechanisms underlying cell sensitization to TRAIL-induced cell death remain largely unkown. This PhD project will be dedicated to dissect the molecular mechanisms involved in the restoration of this apoptotic machinery and to develop efficient antitumor therapies based on HSP inhibitors and/or TRAIL or TRAIL derivatives.
Requested Profile : The applicant should have a Master 2 diploma and a previous training period in a research lab. We are seeking a highly motivated and curious individual with prior background in Cancer research and molecular biology. French speaking is not a requirement.
Candidates should send their application (CV, motivation letter and 2 recommendation letters) to omicheau@u-bourgogne.fr
Closing Date August, 23rd 2013. Interview Date September 2013.
