DESCRIPTION

Blake, something of an artist archaeologist, works with the rabbit's traditional metaphorical potential. Drawing from sources as diverse as the Easter resurrection, Renaissance subjects, Brer Rabbit, Bugs Bunny, Harvey, and Uncle Wiggly, he uses iconic forms of the rabbit in various styles, forms, materials, and guises to comment on contemporary culture. Includes an essay by Lynn M. Herbert and documentation on the artist’s career. (Exhibition on view January 12 – February 25, 1996)
