MARTIN LUTHER 1483-1546
A biographical sketch of Diller Luther found the History of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, states that Christian Luther, Diller's great-grandfather, "claimed direct descent from the "great reformer."1 Diller was the son of Dr. John Luther, grandson of Dr. John Luther, great-grandson of Christian Luther.
From the History of Reading Hospital, a similar claim is found in the biography of Dr. Martin Luther, Diller's brother.2 Thus far it has not been possible to substantiate these claims.
Another biographical sketch of this same Dr. Martin Luther states "Traditionally he is a descendant of the brother of Martin Luther, the great Protestant Reformer."
