Social Media and the impact on society today

Have you ever stopped to wonder how much we actually depend on the media?

All of our lives revolve around the news, social networks, and ourcell phones.

What do you think this is doing to our minds, our thought processes?

A definition of social media: Social Media is, at its most basic sense, a shift in how people discover, read, and share news and information and content. It’s a fusion of sociology and technology, transforming monologue (one to many) into dialog (many to many).

Another definition: Social media is a type of online media that expedites conversation as opposed to traditional media, which delivers content but doesn't allow readers/viewers/listeners to participate in the creation or development of the content.

Why can’t we all log off and go outside? Be productive? Focus in school? It’s obvious isn’t? We are all addicted, we may as well sign ourselves up for thatIntervention show.

We’re all sick, we need help. The fact of the matter is no one is offering help.

A lot of students use their laptops in school for note taking. How many ofthese students actually pay attention in class and take notes?

Many people assume social media is good in school. Sometimes it is,it is now much more convienent to hook up with people for a project.Social media also takes a toll on university student’s lives. They spend alltheir time online and rush to finish their assignments leading to lowergrades.

Do you remember what thisfeels like?

How about this?

Is this really what we want to be known for?

Why can’t we care more for thisbeautiful planet we live on?

Is this what we think of the world?

Let’s all jump on the social media bandwagon!

Is this what we are all going to look like when social media ends?I personally don’t want to look like a whiny little baby…

Do we really want to become a societyThat are known for being pea-brained?I can say, from personal experience, justwalking the halls in my school I can seethe extent of what this comic portrays.“You down tonight, dog?” Seriously,we’re in higher education! We, or ratherour parents, pay for our schooling. Shouldn’t we be at least slightly smart?

Are these our friends?

In conclusion, the world is evolving technologically but it comes with the consequences of social media evolving making us, in fact, less social.
