Church & Society Movie Night
On Monday, March 14 at 7 p.m. in the
Kendall Building Church and Society will
host a screening of "Suffragette." The
movie documents the British
suffragette/suffragists movement's actions
starting in 1912 when women's protests
became more violent.
Women chained themselves to fences,
went on hunger strikes and set off bombs.
In 1918, women over 30 were given the
right to vote. In 1928, women over 21 were
given the right to vote. British suffragettes
helped energize the movement in the
United States. This 2015 movie runs 106
minutes and is rated PG-13 for intense
violence scenes.

Senior Lunches
Did you miss the first Senior Lunch? From all reports it was a rousing success. Attendees were served a delicious lunch, looked at baby pictures and tried to identify them from our seniors today. Each person was presented with a notebook and guiding questions to write about at home about themselves and their family backgrounds. At the next lunch we will talk about our backgrounds and be given questions that will guide our writing for our childhood and teen years.
Our next lunch will be Saturday, March 19, at 12:00 and will continue with the theme of Getting to Know You and creating an autobiography for your family. Be sure to sign up early since seating is limited. Bring your notebooks with you. The lunches are free, but if you might be interested in helping defray the costs of the lunches a contribution will be sincerely appreciated. Just give it to Joan Coston who is helping watch our finances. – Char Anderson (Director of Senior Ministries)

The first New Members Class of 2016 was held on Sunday, January 10. And what a joy it was to have eight in attendance. After a period of welcoming and getting acquainted, Rev. Choi spoke about the basic organization of the Methodist Church, including the General Conference, the Annual Conference, and the historical timeline of the church. He also talked at length about the life of John Wesley.
All were in attendance for the second class on Sunday, January 17. A review followed which included a summary of membership vows. Additionally, at the end of the session everyone received a booklet, "Mission Projects and Ways to Volunteer at NUMC."
We pray their membership means a place of identification and where they can worship and grow in the faith of our Lord. – Nancy Kaplan (Welcome Team Leader)

ARTS AND CRAFTS GROUP
Each Monday, for at least 3 hours, a group of dedicated creative women gather to work on
boutiques for NUMC. Much of their work continues at home. Their combined activities produce
our lovely boutiques in spring and fall (includes a baked goods sale and a luncheon), and before
Christmas.
In addition to this faithful group, many church members contribute to the success of these events
by donating their crafts and other items. This tradition of boutiques started over 50 years ago with
Ruth Kendall and Bim Wendler. Throughout the years there have been many workers. Present day
individuals and years of service are as follows:
Pat Small – 42 years
Phyllis Nelson – 30+ years
Lorraine Conner – 30+ years
Amanda Snider – 10 years
Adelpha Stevens – 12+ years
Claudia Wagner – 1 year
Madalana Gowdy – 1 year
Their efforts have raised
approximately $7,500 a year.
All proceeds are donated to the
Northridge United Methodist Women
for missions.
Church members and friends are
encouraged to support the Spring
Boutique on March 13, 2016, in the Kendall building. These women love what they are doing.
They believe these boutiques have social as well as financial benefits for the church. AND, they
agree that working together is great therapy.
