PAL at the University of Bedfordshire

What is Peer Assisted Learning?

“PAL fosters cross-year support between students on the same

course. It is run for students and by students to provide an informal, yet structured

opportunity for new students to learn from those who have been

there before them”

PAL at Bedfordshire

• Timetabled session starting early in the term• 1 hour a week facilitated by pairs or trios of PAL

Leaders• PAL runs in terms 1 & 2• Nominally linked to a 1st year core unit• You can propose session content and direction• PAL is supportive, informal and fun

Often the best people to help new students are those who have experienced the same problems and issues = Students

Your PAL Leaders

• 2nd and 3rd year students on your course• Friendly and approachable• Facilitators not teachers• They have been there
