Westside Sesquicentennial Christmas shoppers are reminded thatthis Thursday, November 8, is the deadline for ordering Westside 150thpottery items for guaranteed delivery for holiday gift-giving. The potteryitems come in a variety of styles and price ranges, all featuring theWestside Sesquicentennial �W� logo.

Westside City CouncilMinutes & Claims - October 1, 2018

October 1, 2018The regular meeting of the Westside

City Council was held on October 1, 2018 at6:07 p.m. at City Hall. Mayor Jons called themeeting to order with K. Simons, S. Wieland,N. Kock, A. Kock, J. Quandt, K. Bass (CityMaintenance). Also, in attendance was RickBohlmann with Bohlmann & Sons.

RESOLUTION 10-01-2018R1WHEREAS, the City of Westside, Iowa,

and Bohlmann & Sons Sanitation desire toenter into an agreement for the Amendmentof the Solid Waste and Recyclables Collec-tion Agreement for the City of Westside; and,

WHEREAS, as a condition of the agree-ment, the City of Westside has prepared anAmendment for the Solid Waste and Recy-clables Collection Agreement which requiresthe signatures of the Mayor and City Clerk inapproval and acceptance of said amend-ment.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEDby the City Council of Westside, Iowa:

That the City does hereby accept theAmendment to the Solid Waste and Recy-clables Collection Agreement with Bohl-mann & Sons Sanitation; and hereby autho-rizes the Mayor and City Clerk to sign theamendment.

PASSED AND APPROVED, this 1st dayof October, 2018.

AMENDMENTSOLID WASTE AND RECYCLABLES

COLLECTION AGREEMENTSection Two � Term #3 Three Year Con-

tract Extension Provision hereby extendingthe contract with Bohlmann & Sons Sanita-tion for three years from January 1, 2019through December 31, 2021.

Section Eight � AmendmentThis Agreement may be amended or

modified only by written agreement signedby both parties, and failure on the part ofeither party to enforce any provision of thisAgreement shall not be construed as awaiver of the right to compel enforcement ofsuch provision or provisions. The followingsections are hereby amended:

Section Five - #10 � Contractor�s Obli-gations

10. To deliver at Contractors expenseincluding all tonnage/tipping fees all solidwaste and recyclable materials to the au-thorized Recycling & Solid Waste Station.

However, the City will pay all tonnage/tippingfees on Clean Up Days.

Section Six � #2 - City Payment toHauler is hereby amended as follows: 2. City payment to Contractor will bebased on Eleven Dollars and Fifty Cents($11.50) per household per month for col-lection of solid waste and recyclables.

These amendments shall be effectiveOctober 1, 2018.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the partieshave executed this Agreement at Westside,Iowa. On this 1st day of October, 2018.

Kyle Bass discussed the City Mainte-nance Report. A City truck will go to O�Halloranfor maintenance week of 10/8/18. We haveset up a schedule to replace old water meters.Notices went out to residents who need theirsreplaced. Schedule is working great, 28 ap-pointments have been made. Circle Drive workto be finished will depend on the weather. Therewas a lighting strike that took out the liftstation�s computer. Quality Pump is workingon replacing the computer. Rural Water is tobe here this month to camera a few lines intown. Grading work will be done on the alleysthis fall to level out some areas and rid themof pot holes if possible. We will be fixing theshoulders on North Ave., gravel portion, nextspring.

The Council discussed Hoffman parknew play equipment will remain closed untiltile in park can be replaced and surfacingcan be put down.

Motion N. Quandt, second K. Simons,to have City split the cost of $400 of a largertree at the park with Fortnightly. Fortnightlydonation is $250, Cities portion is $150.

The Council discussed the researchdone by M. Simons on electronic time clocksystems for the clerk and maintenance totrack activities and jobs. Electronic time clockis not warranted at this time.

The Council discussed the possibilityof water damage to the wiring of one of thesecurity cameras, M. Simons will contactInControl Electronics and Schoessler Elec-tric to look at the problem.

The Council discussed the City WebSite. M. Simons will continue to learn theWebsite and report back to council nextmonth on progress.

Roaming the streets of Arcadia Trick-or-Treating were Deegan Klinkas Blue from Jurassic World and Matt Klink as the T-Rex. The otherlittle goblins pictured are Eliza Wittrock, Ethan Osborne, Sutton Wittrockand Piper Klink.

The weather was wonderful for an evening of Trick-or-Treating around the town of Arcadia. The streetswere full of those wanting to take part in some Halloween fun. Young, and old alike, dressed up to spookthose in town.
