Overarching Theme for 2009
‘The Ripple Effect’• Act of spreading the Peer Support Spirit
• Reaching out to the school population
• Ignite a peer support spirit within the board and allow the PSLs to spread this spirit to the rest of the school population
• PSB aims to be the first ripple, which would subsequently create new ripples
• Starts from the seniors to the rest of the board

Who is a PSL?
• A Peer Support Leader is one who is responsible, passionate and dedicated, who serves with patience, love and sincerity, and who always strives to make a positive difference in the lives of those around them.
Who is a PSL?
• Is not merely someone who is enthusiastic and able to hype the crowd up• Constantly engages in Peer Supporting; takes the initiative to help others• Is sincere in helping others• Is always there for their peers, and do not expect anything in return• Can be identified as a PSL, even without a PSL-badge on the collar
What We Do •Induct Secondary Ones
- Orientation 2009- Weekly PSL sessions
•Induct foreign scholars- Foreign Scholars’ Orientation (FSO)
• Organize school events and external events- Involve in Planning, Execution- Provide Manpower such as Ushering, Reception Duty
• Work with other leaders- With other leadership boards, schools, countries
What We Do
• Attend seminars, workshops and training sessions
- For example, Halogens Conference
• Plan and execute board initiatives
• Most importantly, we support our peers on an everyday basis!

Board Structure• Around 80 members

• JPSLs:- Secondary 2 Peer Support Leaders (PSLs)- Selected through recommendations and a selection camp. - Pioneered in 2007• PSLs:- Secondary 3 PSLs-Open application and interviews• SPSLs:- Reapply in Secondary 3 and go through interviews

JPSLs:• Learn from the S/PSLs and to gain an experience on peer supporting and planning of PSL sessions
PSLs:• To plan and execute PSL sessions and organize events SPSLs:• Serve as mentors to the juniors and provide guidance• Set the direction for the board

Peer Support Sessions (PSL Sessions)
Conducted in Class I/C groups• 1 Class I/C group comprises 1-2 SPSL(s), 3 – 4 PSLs and 1 JPSL• No. of Class I/C groups correspond to no. of Secondary 1 classes
• Allows the Secondary Ones adapt to the RGS environment and ethos
• Usually held on Saturday mornings• Around 13 weekly sessions spread across
first 3 months
Peer Support Sessions (PSL Sessions)
• Goes in line with CLE theme of the year• Consists of ice-breakers, discussions, Peer Support group sessions (PSGs), self-planned activities, games etc.
