Outsourcing has been in the news off late, and we have been hearing quite a lot about it over the past few years. Despite the recent hullabaloo, are you aware that outsourcing is not new to men, and was started way back in 1970s? The pioneers in outsourcing

Outsourcing started in 1970s, with specialized machinery being the oldest thing to be

outsourced.

The term Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), was

coined in 1989,

in a research report by Mark Hodges.

According to Peter Drucker, father of outsourcing:

“A company should be engaged only in the front room activities that are core to supporting its business. Back

room activities should be handed over to other companies, for whom these are front room activities.”

By 2008, India claimed 65% of all offshored IT work, and 43% of other BPO work.
