Job well
done!
Cortland Christian Academy is in need of a boys’ volleyball coach for the spring. Coach Ryan Eddy is
unable to coach this year, so we need someone to fill his coaching spot. If you are interested, please con-
tact Pastor Miller for details. We continue to be thankful for the many coaching volunteers who make
these programs possible and we trust that the Lord will again fill this vacancy.

Down and up and down and up and… on Thursday, January 14th,
Cortland Christian Academy’s fourth and fifth grade class enjoyed a
day of sledding at the Ploss home. The skies were sunny and bright,
just perfect for a day out on the hill. We enjoyed various ways of get-
ting down the hill from sleds to saucers to snowboards to toboggans;
however, returning to the top had to be done the good old-fashioned
way...hiking!
In addition to sledding, we enjoyed a pizza lunch complete with veg-
gies and dip and other munchies. We even found space for Christmas
cookies. After a break for lunch and a bit of indoor free time, we found
ourselves headed back out to the hill with plans for trying out different
modes of transportation as well as the jump that Micah had installed
for us. Our day was truly tons of fun. We extend our thanks with a
great big smile to Micah and his family for their willingness to open
their home to us for this winter activity.

There will no longer be
a drink machine avail-
able to students in the
gym hallway. It is being
removed by the Cocoa
Cola company due to
low sales.

For several years we have en-
joyed a hot lunch program here at
Cortland Christian Academy
mostly because of the work of
two of our mothers. Mrs. Sue
Kinney and Mrs. Kammy Ploss
have taken on this role and have
put in hours of effort to make this
program a success.
When school first began, every-
one brought a bag lunch for the
day. We then increased our pro-
gram to include chocolate and
white milk. Eventually, we added
the snack window and a Thursday
Pizza Day. Later, the juice ma-
chine was added to provide addi-
tional beverages. Lastly, the sen-
ior lunch was added as a way for
the senior class to raise money for
their class trip.
Mrs. Kinney saw the need for a
better lunch program and took on
the responsibility of setting up a
lunch schedule for the students
which provided them a way to
buy their lunch everyday. This
endeavor involved making up a
menu, purchasing paper and food
supplies, balancing the books,
and finding parents who would be
C.C.A. LUNCH PROGRAM– A BIG THANK YOU —HELP NEEDED!!!
able to take a day each week to
run the lunchroom. Sue is to be
commended for her hours and
hours of labor that she volun-
teered to our school.
Along the way, Sue enlisted the
help of Mrs. Ploss. These two
ladies have put in countless hours
of volunteering to make this lunch
program possible. I would like to
take this opportunity to tell them
just how much it has been appre-
ciated by students and staff alike.
Sometimes it is easy to take this
service for granted and forget all
that is involved in making a good
lunch program.
In June, Danielle Kinney will be
graduating from C.C.A., and Mrs.
Kinney will no longer be avail-
able to provide this service. She
will be focusing on work and on
Tristan’s needs. This is as it
should be since she needs to dedi-
cate her time to her family’s
needs. Mrs. Kammy Ploss has
been actively trying to finish up a
nursing degree and will also not
be as involved this next school
year.
This being said, we are actively
seeking someone who could “step-
up to the plate” and take on this
ministry. Mrs. Kinney and Mrs.
Ploss are more than willing to work
alongside someone to teach them
the ropes during the rest of this
school year. The responsibilities
for this program could be carried by
several different parents who could
work together to make things a bit
easier. If you think you would be
interested in this ministry, please
contact the school office for more
information. If we are unable to
find volunteers for the lunchroom,
it will not be able to continue as it
has in the past few years.
Pray as to whether or not the Lord
would be leading you to minister to
the students and staff in this way.
We are trusting that the Lord has
someone in mind for this ministry
and that we will be able to continue
to offer school lunches as usual.
Again, a BIG THANK YOU to
MRS. SUE KINNEY AND MRS.
KAMMY PLOSS for your years of
dedication to this program.
SOUP LABELS, BOX TOPS AND INK
With cold and flu season upon us we should be getting in more soup labels! Remember to save them off
all cans! They are also on breads as well. Box Tops are now on Avery paper products as well as several
other products! Scott paper towels and toilet paper and Puffs tissues are just a couple that they are hid-
ing on. Let’s make a big push to beat our last year’s submissions!.
I will be getting ready to send out ink cartridges soon so please send them all in the next few weeks. See
if other churches and work places will save them for us!
