COSHH1. Identify the hazardous substance
2. Decide what precautions are needed
3. Prevent or control exposure
4. Ensure control measures are used and maintained
COSHH5. Monitor exposure
6. Monitor adverse effects of exposure
7. Prepare plans to deal with accidents
8. Ensure employees are properly informed
Example - Chlorine1. I’ve identified that chlorine could be hazardous to someone’s
health
2. Chlorine level to be monitored by a computer for dangerous levels
3. Check computer levels every morning
4. Train all staff to know what they’re looking for
5. Measure the concentration of chlorine that may be dangerous
6. If dangerous levels of chlorine enter the pool, what will the effects be?
7. Display signs and have immediate response if chlorine levels become too high
8. Train staff eg emergency procedures
