Introduction

Online Teaching & Learning Guideline was created to help students to learn via virtual learning.

This guide explains how students can conduct online learning sessions and how courses are handled by lecturers from the beginning of the semester to the end of the semester.

This guide is a general reference for students and should be read along with current instruction documents issued by KPT, MQA, KPTMSB and other relevant agencies

The objectives of this guide are to help students to:

Why Teaching and Learning via Online?

Offers conveniences ( flexible learning) from the perspective of venue and learning time.

Safe and secure environment through proper social distancing.

Cost saving ( Do not have to travel to campus)

Approaches in Teaching and Learning Online

Co-occurs between two or more parties during real time and

interactive.

Requires high-speed bandwidth connection.

Requires the lecturers and student to interact online during real-time.

The teaching and learning process occurs non-simultaneously during

the real-time between student and lecturer.

Requires low-speed bandwidth connection.

Students can access learning materials provided by the lecturers

depending on their availability

Students’ Roles and Responsibilities

Students are required to attend lecture according to the fixed timetable.

Attendance is compulsory based on students’ participation during a lecture.

Students are required to inform the lecturer in case they have difficulties in accessing the internet before lecture

commences.

Students are required to abide by the ethical and clothing etiquette during an online lecture.

Students must be on constant alert on the latest information shared on the official website (www.kptm.edu.my) and

other branch campus website.

Students are required to use the KPTM email actively, OLES system and SPMP as these systems are considered as

the main system used in online teaching and learning.

Tips & Strategies to Teaching and Learning via Online

Plan daily timetable and allocate study time

Keep in touch with lecturers about course-related information and in the event of any concerns

Always log in to the OLeS system for the latest course information

Engage actively when class is taking place with either a lecturer or other students

Always review lesson after the completion of each learning session

Complete all assignments/tasks on a regular basis within the specified time as assigned by the lecturer

• OLeS is the official online learning and teaching (PdP) platform at KPTM

• Students are REQUIRED to use OLeS throughout the course

• Students will be given a Login and Password to access OLeS
