Online collaboration - Google tools for collaborative group work/Using Trello to track group work

Tech Talk Tuesdays - session 4Pauline Porcaro - CoB ADG

The Problem with Group Work - main issues

Brainstorm on the collaborative document

Group work - where and when they want and in real time

Tracking who did the work Google Drive - See Revision History

Grading group work - some thoughtsStudents could be graded on content added - monitor via Revision History

They could be asked to comment on each other’s contribution using the Comments function

Part of the assessment is structured for an individual analysis of the group work - set up a Form in Google for them to assess their team members

You could provide formative feedback as the work develops using the Comments function - this can also help to keep them on track as they know you’ll be looking

You can share a file with docs or images etc with them for the group work so everyone has the same resources as a starting point e.g. their rubric, the assessment instructions, copies of exemplars

Hold a weekly Google Hangout meeting to discuss expectations as the time nears for grading

Keeping them organised

Creating folders for all group resources

They could create their own Google calendar to help keep groups on track

Complete details, share with the group members and select settings, select CREATE

Add calendar events and ensure you copy details to the relevant calendar from the drop down box

Now see the new calendar and the event on your calendars
