When was Oklahoma Accepted into the United
States?
Oklahoma was surveyed to become a state in 1902
It became a state on November 16th,1902
Many Native Americans already lived there.
What is the weather and land like in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma is usually cold and humid
In the west, it has flat plains.
In the east, it has mountains.
In 1905, Snyder Oklahoma had a powerful tornado on May 10th, one of the worst
natural disasters in Oklahoma
How did the life of Native Americans change after the
settlers came in?
Most of them died from disease or fighting
If they didn’t die they were displaced.
They got moved to reservations, Natives and settlers hated each other,
so they got into fights frequently
How did eliminating Native Americans change
Oklahoma?
Native Americans lost the land so settlers had more
opportunities.
Settlers had more food since the Natives were not
hunting.
More jobs were created.
