YOUTH COURTStudents if you are interested in being a youth court volunteer, -pick up a application from Mr. Trice in the Guidance Office.

Youth court volunteers will prosecute, defend and serve as bailiffs and jurors in a real sentencing hearing of juvenile offenders in Shelby County.

ONLINE CLASSESOnline class registration is NOW OPEN!!!!!!!Please see Ms. Osman to register for an online class during your lunch or after school.

OHS PRIDE

OHS Pride will hold weekly meetings every Monday from 3:15pm – 4:15pm. Come and join to be apart of an accepting environment. While discussing LGBT related issues and working on related projects.

FHAO STUDENT LEADERSHIP GROUPThe FHAO Leadership Group would like to invite students grades 9 – 12 to join them on their upcoming field trip to Washington, D.C. This will be a great way to spend your Spring Break. For details on the trip, please see Ms. Mosby or Dr. Taylor.

OVERTON HIGH LEADERSHIP COUNCILAbsences due to pre-approved college visits will not count against seniors for exam exemptions. Seniors must have approval from their professional school counselor prior to the college visit and must submit documentation of visit upon returning.

SENIORSAll College Acceptance Letters, Scholarship Offers and FAFSA Confirmations need to be turned in to Mrs. Tipton ASAP!

ATTENTION OHS – STUDENTS!!!Detention is assigned for students who are tardy to school or class 3 or more times. The detention is always posted outside of the Pupil Services office. Detention notices are also issued.

If you fail to attend detention you will be automatically assigned a day of ISS!!!

If you fail to attend ISS or comply with ISS rules you will receive an OUT OF SCHOOL SUSPENSION!!

IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO ATTEND DETENTION OR ISS, THE SOLUTION IS VERY SIMPLE………ARRIVE TO SCHOOL AND YOUR CLASSES ON TIME!!!

STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATIONCongrats to SGA, SPED Department, Faculty and Students who helped raise money for Special Olympics. Over $2000 was raised for Special Olympics - Greater Memphis. Thanks to the awesome teachers and Mr. Billings for jumping in the COLD Mississippi River Saturday!

OHS DRAMACONGRATULATIONS to Overton’s Shakespeare Competition winner Charity Johnson! Charity will compete in the Memphis Shakespeare Competition in March, with a chance to compete in New York City.

KEY CLUBThe Kids Kan Drive is in effect here at Overton. No worries if you don’t desire to bring in cans. The food bank says $1.00 equals a three can donation. We need $1.00 from every Wolverine – young and seasoned. The teachers whose class makes the largest donation will receive a gift card and treat. Please send all can goods, non-perishable items and cash donations to C. Smith – Room 244.

ACT TEST PREPARATIONThere will be a ACT Test Preparation session on Saturday, February 27th, March 5th and March 12th from 9:30am until 12:00 noon. The session will be held in Room 133 and breakfast will be served.

OHS PRE – CONCERT FESTIVAL CONCERT

Join the OHS Music department for their Pre-Festival Concert on Thursday, March 10th at 7:00pm in the OHS auditorium. Come out and enjoy the Wind Ensemble and the Overton Symphony Orchestra. The concert will feature music that will be performed at the WTSBOA Concert Festival. The OHS Band Program has earned consecutive superior ratings for over 20 years.

TENNESSEE ARMY NATION GUARDCongratulations to Marissa Kelly on her recent enlistment into the Tennessee Army National Guard. Marissa performed her Oath of Enlistment on March 1, 2016 at the Memphis Military Entrance Processing Station. She is now eligible to receive $10,000 from the Montgomery GI Bill and up to $4,000 per year Federal Tuition Assistance. -Congratulations Marissa Kelly
