INTRODUCTION:
Namaste!! SpeCivil Mania '17 welcomes all its readers and patrons to partake with us, all that
this Newsletter has to offer, in the form of information and insights into the working of the Civil
Family, as this edition of SpeCivil Mania '17 is the first. It highlights the achievements and
activities of the department right from the establishment of the branch till date. It depicts the
contribution of the department in betterment of the college.
EXISTING FACULTY:
1. Mr. Col LAKSHMIPATI DASIKA
Professor LP Dasika completed his B.E. in Civil Engineering from University of Roorkee (Now IIT) in
1974 and joined in Indian Army. He served in Indian Army for 34 years. During his tenure in the Indian
Army he was selected to do ME at the University of Roorkee (Now IIT). Later, he did his M.Sc in Defence
studies from Madras University and MBA from Hyderabad.
He joined as a Regional manager for South India in MNC Engineering Consultancy Company and served
for 4 years.
Later, he joined in Guru Nanak Institutions Technical Campus (GNITC) as HOD of Civil Engineering
Department in June 2012 to February 2015. Presently, he is working in St Peter’s Engineering College as
HOD Civil Engineering Department.
2. Mr. PRADEEP KUMAR
M. Tech in Building Technology and Construction Management from IIT, Chennai.
B. Tech in Civil Engineering VR Siddhartha Engineering College, Vijayawada (ANU).
Worked in M/s CCCL as Team Leader in Planning Department for 6 years.
Joined in St. Peter’s Engineering College as a Senior Assistant Professor.
3. Mrs.PLN SINDHURA
M.Tech in Structural Engineering from VIT University, Chennai.
B.Tech in Civil Engineering from SVU, Tirupati.
Worked in A P Social Welfare Department for 5 years.
Published papers on ‘Non Linear Dynamic Analysis of Concrete Plates Subjected to Blast Load’ in
ICAETS-2014 and ‘Proposal of Optimization Method for Concrete Mix Design using MATLAB in 6th
International SET Conference-2013, VIT University, and Vellore.
Joined St. Peter’s Engineering College and working as an Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering
Department on December 2015 to till date.
4. Ms.K.C. SAMYUKTHA
M.Tech in Geotechnical Engineering in Malla Reddy Engineering College (Autonomous).
B.Tech in Civil Engineering in Sri Kalahastheeswara Institute of Technology (JNTUA).
Published an International Journal entitled “LIME AND CEMENT STABILIZATION OF SOILS” in
ICETSTEM and participated in “International conference on emerging trends in Science & Technology &
Management”, in Malla Reddy Engineering College (Autonomous).
She worked as a Siddhartha Institute of Technology and Sciences (JNTUH) as an Assistant professor from
Sep 2014 to June 2016 and presently working in St. Peter's Engineering College as an Assistant Professor
since June 2016 to till now.
5. Mr.SOHANG DEBNATH
M.Tech in Transportation Engineering in Malla Reddy Institute of Technology.
B.E. in Civil Engineering form Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Karnataka (VTU).
Worked as a teaching professional in Lingarajappa Engineering College (VTU).
Presently working as an Assistant Professor in St. Peter’s Engineering College from August 2015 to till
now.
6. Mr.MARUTHI RAKSHITH
M.Tech in Structural Engineering in Malla Reddy Institute of Technology.
B. Tech in Civil Engineering Marri Laxman Reddy Institute of Technology and Management (JNTUH).
Published a paper on Design of Foot Over Bridge in RACE at CMR Technical Campus.
Reviewed IRRIGATION ENGINEERING book for Diploma 5th semester in SIA Group
Worked in Siddhartha Institute of Technology and Sciences as a junior lecturer for Diploma in June 2015.
Presently, he is working in St. Peter’s Engineering College.
7. Mr.SAI KRISHNA.G
M.Tech in Structural Engineering in Malla Reddy Institute of Technology.
B. Tech in Civil Engineering in Sri Datta Group of Institutions (JNTUH)
Worked in M/s Mega Constructions Company as a field Engineer for 4 Months in Srisailam Solar
Projects.
Presently, he is working in St. Peter’s Engineering College from August 2016 to till now.

Presently, he is working in St. Peter's Engineering College as a Assistant Professor from December 2016

2. Mr. MOHAMMED FEROZ
M.Tech in Structural Engineering in KBN College of Engineering.
B.Tech in Civil Engineering in GND Engineering College.
Published Paper on Geo-Polymer Concrete in IJST and he delivered two National technical papers
presentation in National Conference.
Worked as a Site Engineer in M/s ARC Construction & Consultant. Presently working in St. Peter's
Engineering College as an Assistant Professor since December 2016 to till now.
3. Ms. ARATI PARIDA
M.Tech in Structural Engineering in Sathya Bama University, Chennai.
B.Tech in Civil Engineering in VMU, Chennai.
Got a Gold Medal on Finite Element Methods in Sathya Bama University.
Published a paper on Modulus of Elasticity Fiber Reinforce Concrete in IBC and on green concrete in
ACI, Pudichery.
Presently working as a Assistant professor in St. Peter's Engineering College from December 2016 till
now
4. Mrs. D.D.N.L. DEVI
M.Tech in Geotechnical Engineering, JNTUH.
B.Tech in Civil Engineering in SSN Engineering College.
Diploma in Civil Engineering.
Participated in a Two Day International Workshop on “Geotechnical Symposium on Disaster Mitigation”
at IIT Madras.
5 Years of Industry Experience in Business Development.
And worked as an Assistant Professor in CVR College of Engineering and presently, working in
St. Peter’s Engineering College as a Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering Department from January
2017 to till now.
5. Mr. M.RAVI THEJA
M.Tech in Highway Engineering in MRITS, Hyderabad.
B. Tech in Civil Engineering RGMCET, Nandyal.
Presented paper on Advanced Concrete Technology.
Worked in NCC Limited as a Design Engineer for Mission Bhageeratha.
Worked in AVN Engineering College as an Assistant Professor. Presently, he is working as a Assistant
Professor in St. Peter’s Engineering College from January 2017 to till now.
6. Mr.H.MANJUNATHA
M.Tech in Computer Aided Design of Structures in VTU.
B. Tech in Civil Engineering in VTU.
He has an experience of 1 Year in Infrastructure Projects.
Presently, he is working as an Assistant Professor in St. Peter’s Engineering College from February 2017
to till now.
FRESHER’S DAY
St.Peter’s Engineering College students celebrated Fresher’s Day on 24 September, 2016, which was completely
hosted by the 2nd years in order to greet and welcome the fresher's with warm hearts. The event held included
loads of performances both from the 2nd years and the fresher's showcasing the talents of themselves with the
lone intention of making their only fresher's a memorable one.
GUEST LECTURE ON HYDERABAD METRO RAIL PROJECT
A Guest Lecture on “Hyderabad Metro Rail Project” by Nanduri Srinivasan, former senior QA/QC Manager of
L&T, was held. The speaker emphasized on metro rail materials for the precast beams and deck slab girder, cast
insitu pillars and clear covers.
All the II & III year students of Civil Engineering along with faculty members attended the guest lecture. It was a
very informative and educative session. It created a clear picture in the minds of the students about the metro rail
project of L&T, Hyderabad.
Outcomes of the lecture:
Students were given information about the materials used in Metro Rail Project.
Students got a clear idea about the importance of Clear covers in the project.
The lecture was organized by Mr. LP.Dasika, Head of Department of Civil Engineering, introduced the concept
and the Guest Speaker of the day.
SITE VISIT
A site visit to premises of St.Peter’s Engineering College, Hyderabad was headed by Mr.MOHAMMAD FEROZ
working as an Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering Department, started at 9.30am to 11.30am. He guided the
III year students on detailing of 2 way slab reinforcement of a residential building.
He explained all the technical details of slab are:
The length of the slab is 120mm
They used 8mm diameter rods in both the sides of the slab.
They provided concealed beam on the slab.
The rods were cranked near the supports.
They provided a spacing of approximately 200 mm centre to centre for the main reinforcement of the slab,
as visualized.
They maintain a minimum cover for slab.
Six rods of 16 mm diameter were used for the columns.
They used 6 rods of 16 mm diameter for beam construction, 3 at the compression zone and 3 at the tension
zone.
HARITHA HARAM
The Government of Telangana initiative to spread the awareness about necessity of trees and plants which plays
key role in balancing the Eco-friendly environment .In this regard, the government giving saplings for free and
allotting the place for planting the trees to control the pollution for future generations..
The St. Peters Engineering College has supported the government initiative by organising this event on 12
August, 2016 was flagged off in the presence of Ch.Malla Reddy Garu, M.P of Malkajgiri constituency who
inspired and encouraged all the students to plant a tree saplings and he planted a plant saplings himself and created
the awareness about the green revolution. In our college premises, including students of Civil Engineering
Department planted around 400-500 trees are Neem tree, sarvi plants, ashoka tree, kadamba etc. as part of this
Haritha Haram.

Youth convention for social change facilitated to 8 Telugu Padma Awards organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra
Sanghtan (NKYS), National Service Scheme (NSS), Telangana Yuva Jana Sanghala Samithi, located at People
Plaza, Necklace road on 17 Febuary,2017 at 11am.
More than 1000 students for various colleges, from NSS youth clubs participated in the felicitation programme.
Home Minister Naini Narsimha Reddy, BJP, State President K. Lakshman, Union Minister of State Labour and
Employee Bandaaru Dattatreya along with other facilitated Padma Awards.
Dattatreya said that the aim of the NDA Government is to develop the Country. "Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas" is the
main theory of the Government. So far, every year Padma Awards were announced only for some people who
were chosen by the Government.
However this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Padma Awards for the people from the rural areas.
Youth has to accept this kind of challenges for development of the Country. Central Government is initiating
policies for the development of Youth Association.
Naini Narsimha Reddy said that he is proud of Telugu people who have won Padma Awards. He said that though
the States are divided, the Telugu people of both the states have to be united The Youth are the future of India and
they have to initiate and participate in Country Programmes to protect our Country.
BJP State President K.Laxman said that many great people born on Telugu land had contributed to the Society
even though they are unnoticed by the Society.
The Vice Chairman of NYKS, Shekhar Rao Perala has created social awareness in the society who have won
Padma Awards and these winners are not from the high class society.
It is a wakeup call for the Youth of Telangana and the main focus of this programme is that Youth should seek
Inspiration and come up with new ideas to develop the society.
There was also an important speech by the speakers to conserve water for future generations. There was also
pledge for all the students to conserve the water for future. They said that the Youth should take the lead for
upcoming.

Outcomes of the NSS
The civil department is on an accelerated growth path, in terms of resources as faculties, utilities being provided to
the students, and has become a better department. This passionate zeal to excel is due to the constant motivation
and guidance of our honourable Head of the department (HOD) LP Dasika, whose ideals motivate the department
to dedicate itself afresh to the cause of learning and excelling in the field of education.
MEGA BLOOD DONATION CAMP
Our Civil Department students have participated in blood donation camp conducted at kompally.
Objectives:
1) To develop a sense of social and civic responsibilities among students.
2) To develop a capacity to meet emergencies in natural disaster.
Outcomes:
1) Donation of blood leads to serve many accidental emergencies
2) Making the Education more relevant to the present day situation to meet and feel the needs of community and
supplement the education of the University or College student by giving them helping hands.
