The Mineral Wells Area
Chamber of Commerce
Workforce Development &
Education Committee is
hosting a Career Fair on Nov.
14 at Mineral Wells High
School.
In conjunction with local
business and Mineral Wells
ISD, the committee’s goal is
to provide local career op-
portunities for our students.
The event will be held 1:30
to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday,
Nov. 14. Targeting freshmen
and sophomores, the event
will allow students to visit
with local businesses offering
exciting opportunities early
in their high school careers.
If you would like infor-
mation about participating,
please contact Susan Boyd at
the Chamber office.

November 1, Shop Local & Win! kicks off The Mineral Wells Area Chamber of
Commerce distributes over 10,000 Shop
Local and Win! cards in our effort to
boost the economy and provide business
to our members. Friday, Oct. 5 is the
deadline to secure a spot on these popular
shopping cards.
This award-winning program helps
residents think “local first.” When your
sales tax dollars stay in the community, it
provides money for street repairs, emer-
gency
services,
and city
facilities
such as
the gym, activity center, city pool, city
parks, and the library.
The Chamber offers our members a
great deal: For $150 you get 2 months of
intense advertising and the opportunity
for money to go back into your store via
weekly and grand prize winners up to
$1,500. The program runs through Dec.
24. Prospective Chamber members can
also buy in for $300—it is still a very good
deal for 2 months of advertising.
Giving your loyal customers a chance to
win a shopping spree is a great way to
reward them and contribute to our com-
munity at the same time. Call the Cham-
ber to make sure your business is a part of
this fun Christmastime program.
Businesses shine light on local careers for students

As always, the Chamber is seeking new
ways to expand opportunities for our mem-
ber businesses.
One of our latest efforts comes as a project
of hoteliers on the Tourism Committee. A
group of 4 is meeting weekly to contact
groups to bring their events to town—
everything from associations to car clubs.
They landed their first tour last month: the
Fort Worth Mercedes Benz Club.
I am also pleased to welcome two new
staff members to our Chamber team.
Christian Garcia is our new Tourism Sales
and Marketing Associate. Christian recently
graduated from Texas Wesleyan University
with a degree in marketing and has interned
in communications at Justin Boots. Sandra
Miller is our new Director of Partnership
Development in membership, arriving via
several years of notable service as advertis-
ing manager at the Lake Country Sun.
I would be remiss if I did not express my
continuing gratitude to the rest of our staff,
Marcelinda Williams and Susan Boyd. We
hope you feel as lucky as we do to serve this
community!
