October Events October 16th– Picture Day
Pictures begin at 8:00 a.m.
Packets will be available to fill out prior to this day
October 20th- Free Date Night from 6-8 p.m.
There will be a sign-up sheet on the communication desk a week before the event. This is a FREE
event. The staff volunteering for the event will put together a fun evening of activities, games,
and a movie at the end for the children to enjoy. Dinner is provided and the children are
welcome to bring or wear pajamas if they would like to.
October 23rd- Post Family Farm Field Trip
Leaving the center at 9:00 a.m.
Spirit Day- Dress like a pumpkin and wear orange and green!
More info and permission slips to come.
October 25th- Kirkhof Games
Children will head to Kirkhof at 10:15 a.m. to eat snack and invite college students to come and
play games with us.
October 23rd- 27th Spirit Week
Monday 23rd- Dress like a pumpkin and wear orange and green! This is field trip day so please
dress your child comfortably for that.
Tuesday- Crazy Sock Day and Sock Drive; Wear your craziest socks to school and if you wish
please bring a pair of new socks to donate for a child in need.
Wednesday- Dress for success and wear your best outfit! We will be playing games with GV
students at Kirkhof .
Thursday-Pajama Day; Wear your favorite pajamas to school!
Friday- Laker Day; If you have GVSU attire you can wear it or support the Lakers by wearing blue,
white , and black!
The children will be enjoying a mock tailgate with games and a special tailgate lunch.

October 26th- Fall Family Fun Night from 6:15-8:00
Please join us at the CEC with your family for a fun evening of Halloween themed games,
pumpkin carving and decorating, and cookies and punch.
October 28th- GVSU Homecoming
10 a.m 5K Run/Walk where you will see Daphnea, Sarah, and Jenny watching children for the
runners. There will be games and activities for the children during this time on the Turf Field.
11 a.m. Kids Run– Free Event!
Tailgating starts @ 1:00 p.m. and the CEC will have a table in the kids tent where there will be
LOTS of games and activities. Come visit us!!
Family Football Game!!! Let’s attend the GV Football game together starting @ 4:00 p.m. Your
ticket vouchers that were passed out at Carnival or from the office will provide you with a free
ticket. Please let Ms. Daphnea now if you are interested and we can discuss details!

October 29th– Laker Village Trick or Treating
Organized by the GV Housing Department
Flyers with more info will be sent out closer to the date
October 31st– Trick or Treating on GV Campus
We will be heading out onto campus at about 9 a.m. please have your child at the center
before this time so they can participate in the activities. You may bring them in costume, part
of it, or we can help them get dressed prior to leaving. However if there are a lot of parts to
assemble and put together, please have your child at school no later than 8:45 a.m. so we can
help all of the children and still leave by 9 a.m.
We will provide a bag for the children to use while trick or treating.
We do ask that costumes are not violent and if there are accessories that could be lost it may
be best to not include them. We do not want the accessories to get dropped or lost during the
event.
