Set Up Your RSS Reader

• Subscribe to RSS feeds of favorite blogs, news sites and comment threads of blogs to follow industry topics

• Subscribe to date sorted searches of

• Your name and username

• Your band or group name

• Book titles, event names, album or song titles

• Names of competitors or people you are compared to

• Each of your URLs to check for new links

Get Involved in Blogging

• Link it up! Make sure to link to and properly credit people in your posts

• Add a ShareThis button to your template to make it easy to Tweet and share the posts

• Encourage comments by ending with a question or call to action. Respond to comments on your blog, leave thoughtful comments on other blogs

• Subscribe to cool blogs in your RSS reader to keep up with and remember

• Use Google Analytics or Get Clicky to understand how people are coming to your site, use Feedburner to know how people are subscribing to you

HARO – Be The Expert

• Everyone’s An Expert at Something!

• Subscribe to HARO and pitch when you are the expert the journalist is looking for

• Position yourself as an expert in your industry

• Get more press

• What is your expertise?

• Allows you to update the calendars on multiple sites at once

• Allows you to update multiple video sites at once

• Aggregates statistics

• EPK for submitting to festivals

• Look for specials from businesses – KOA offered free camping to bands that did a 30 minutes show or lesson; Denny’s offered half priced food after midnight

Trust in a Username

• Pick a persistent username and make it your log-in EVERYWHERE

• Trust travels with your username from site to site

• Own Google for that one word

• Make sure people find you when they are looking for you

• Use Facebook, Twitter, and Blogs to organize in person events

• Twitter from the event to let people know what’s going on
