NAME, DATE and PERIOD Write the question: What is your new UNIT GOAL for Greece? What will you do to achieve it?

Think of ONE thing you want to improve or change for the rest of the qtr. Write down in one-two sentences what that is.

Then write 3 sentences explaining HOW you are going to stick to your resolution!

EXAMPLE My Greek Goal is to stay organized in the classroom and at home. I am going to stick to this resolution by not leaving school unless all papers in my folder are organized.

I WILL help Ms. Facinelli pick up the room daily.

DOES GREECE HAVE?

Ancient Greece was located on a peninsula. Greece was surrounded by seas, which made trade and fishing very easy.

PENINSULA

HOW?

How could being located on a peninsula help trade?

MINOANS The Ancient Minoans were the first people to settle in Ancient Greece. They became rich from trading, ship building, and fishing.

MOUNTAINS Mountains and seas divided Greece and made it difficult for one ruler to unify the area.

POLIS The mountains isolated city-states from each other. City-states, known as polis, developed their own governments and remained independent.

POLIS WAR Each city-state had an army to protect themselves against invaders from other countries and other city-states. There were many wars.

GREEK POLIS Although each city-state had its own government, all of the Greek city-states shared the same language and religion.
