INDUCTIONS

Hi Candidate

STATISTICS FROM ACOG

The rate of labor induction in the US has more than doubled since 1990In 2006, more than 22% (roughly 1 out of every 5) of all pregnant women had their labor induced

How Do I Defend An Induction That You

Feel Is Not Well Indicated?

This is the easiest way to see if the candidate is practicing ‘convenient OB’

Be Honest!

Explain the circumstances of the induction being set up

Describe the point when you started to manage the patient

Describe why you disagree with your colleague

Give the correct response as you see appropriate

Do not ‘dump’ on your partner

The examiner can understand the circumstance

IN SUMMATION:

This is the easiest way to see if a candidate is practicing ‘convenient OB’Be honestExplain the circumstances of the induction being set upDescribe the point when you started to manage the patient

Describe why you disagree with your colleague

Every Induction must have a clear indication If there isn’t you must explain why there is no indication

One More Point:

If a patient is 40 weeks + 2 or 3 daysRound UP to 41 weeks

Bonus Tip:

Consider ’rounding up’ the gestational age
