SAFETY has been the fundament of the Shuttle Tanker development over the years…
• …environmentally friendly operations have been and are increasingly seen as a strong driver for development
• …as well as the increased focus on efficiency – or smart operation

LNG fuel has been the “fuel standard” for the newly delivered Shuttle Tankers…but what is next???
5
Bridging technologies can facilitate the transition from traditional fuels, via fuels with lower-carbon footprints, to carbon-neutral fuels
VOC
DNV © 24. MARS 2021
• Machinery configuration and optimization to establish the best environmental and economical design
• The optimal configuration of Auxiliaries / Batteries and Shaft Generators
• VOC generated during cargo operation is refrigerated through the vapor recovery module and the re-liquefied VOC is stored in the dedicated LVOC tank
• VOC recovery system also can use the VOC for ship’s fuel together with LNG fuel system (mixed with LNG)
The combination with other environmental friendly solutions and fuel reducing technology is heavily explored….
6
VOC Recovery Hybridization Machinery/DP optimization
• Batteries used for redundancy for safe termination in DP operation
• Batteries used as an integrated component in DP operation to reduce fuel consumption and increase efficiency

To reach the GHG ambitions no stone will be unturned…. …both for new design developments as well as for operational issues…

Smart Operations......and the key enablers to realize benefits of digitalisation
• Increase safety and save cost from remote verification and operations
• Optimize performance to improve operation
• Condition based maintenance reduce downtime & save cost

With all eyes focused on digitalization and decarbonization, the industry must continue to meet its commitment to safety
11
To ensure the safe and timely transformation towards a digitally-smart and carbon-neutral future, the industry urgently needs to close the looming «safety gap» by addressing the safety-related risks.

VOC RECOVER PLANT
CONDENSATION SYSTEM FOR NON METHANE VOC
• VOC Condensation Plant will liquefy NMVOC into L(Liquid)VOC and stored in LVOC tank onboard.
• Mixing of LNG with LVOC in gas form made it possible to convert the “waste” LVOC to valuable fuel for the Dual Fuel engines.
• With an average of 100 tons LVOC recovered per loading, the amount can represent up to 30-40% of total fuel requirement of the shuttle tanker, reducing the bunkering requirement correspondingly.

SURPLUS VOC
CAPTURING OF METHANE VOC DURING LOADING
• Gas Turbines will combust surplus methane gas from VOC plant on average 5 ton per loading, producing electric power to the ships electric grid system.
