Joondalup School Values.
Please encourage your child when a task may be difficult and make positive
comments when they achieve success. Not only are you encouraging them to
be more successful but you are also demonstrating the values of compassion
and care. You are modelling the behaviours you would like to promote in your
children. Children are very good at being ‘copy cats.’

work throughout the year in preparation for
Arts Night on Tuesday 23rd October
The Wednesday afternoon Garden Club has commenced from 3.10-4pm for the term so come on down and
join in the activities and learn about sustainable gardening. We entered the Perth Royal Show school produce
section this year and got a highly commended. Big congratulations to all the students who planted and
nurtured the vegetables for this competition.
Next Year
Parent and community representatives are needed for the Sustainability committee next
year. We have very informal meetings once a term that decide where the schools are
heading on this journey. This is your chance to have a say. If interested please contact
Sandra Bennett Recycling Programs
You may not be aware but we collect many products at our school for recycling and repurposing. The bins are placed in our recycling area near the front office for your convenience and are listed below. Please encourage your
child to become a sustainably active person. We also recycle our in-school fruit and vegetable waste for the worm farms
and compost bins. Paper & cardboard goes offsite to be made into new products and ink cartridges get turned into
outdoor furniture and road base.
Battery Recycling Program
Keep bringing your batteries in.
Beauty Product Recycling Program
Bring in your empty lipsticks, hair product containers, foundations etc. We have collected 3 full bins so far this term!
Oral Health Recycling Program
Bring in your old toothbrushes, toothpaste tubes, mouth wash & floss containers and oral care packaging.
Coffee Pods
Bring in your dry coffee pods for recycling. Did you know that every year 55 million coffee pods go to landfill? Plastic
pods take hundreds of years to break down, clog up landfill and release harmful methane gas along the way.
Mobile Muster
This is a new initiative. Remember to clear all data from your mobile and drop into the bin, along with the battery. Old,
broken mobiles are also accepted. Over 99% of the materials in a mobile phone are recovered. This process reduces
the impact of mobile phones on the environment, minimises the resources that are thrown away and promotes the
development of a circular economy. If you need more information on how to back up data etc please follow this link

Waterwise News
Waterwise tip –Dual flush toilets save up to 80l of water per day.
Happy gardening & recycling!
