NLE NEWS Dear Parents/Guardians,
As we begin the second month of the New Year, I hope this newsletter finds everyone staying warm and dry! Students will be receiving their 3rd quarter interim report on February 12th! This is a great time to sit down and praise their accomplishments and set goals as they move into the second half of the school year. I encourage parents to contact teachers if you have any questions or concerns.
Here are eight specific ways to help your child be successful for the remainder of the year:
* Create a routine- A specific study time.
* Prepare for the morning the night before- Make sure backpacks are filled with assigned homework and specific materials.
* Provide a quiet place for homework but let your child work alone.
* Help your child get organized- Make sure backpacks are uncluttered.
* Limit distractions- No TV or video games going in the same room.
* Encourage intellectual curiosity- Talk and discuss current events.
* Allow free time- All children need to unwind and can do this through structured free time.
* Build relationships with the teachers- Remember that you can send the teachers notes in the agenda or through the district email. If you are have difficulty communicating with your child’s teacher, please contact Mrs. Sierra, the school counselor, she will be glad to assist you.
If you are bringing your child in late to school, you MUST bring them into the school and sign them in. Let’s all work to keep our most precious gift, our students, safe!
The goal of North Lakeland Elementary is to help students achieve success by being prepared for middle school, high school and beyond. We are appreciative of the support that you provide for your child at home. It takes a team and we are all a part of that team.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Mrs. Sealey, Principal
