Seehow many applications there are for mixingpieced blocks with appliqué blocks. Appliquédoes not have to be needle turned. She and her husband have three children. She is a graduate of theUniversityofLouisianaatLafayette.Besidesplayinginthreedifferenttennisleagues,thisbusymomstillfindstimetopursueherpassionforquilting,reading,"doing lunchwithfriends,"performancecars,cooking,andtraveling.Cynthia started quilting in 1981 and within ten years was producing award-winning quilts. She lectures and teaches throughout the United States. She hasservedontheboardofseveralstateandlocalguildsinOklahomaandTexas.Shewas a featured teacher at the 31st AnnualNational QuiltingAssociation Show in2000andteachesattheInternationalQuiltFestivalinHouston,Texas.Severalofherdesignshavebeen featured inFonsandPorter’smagazineLoveofQuilting,Quilt Works Today, andQuilting Todaymagazines. Her quilt "Red HotFlannel"was featured in the2005LoveofQuiltingCalendar. InApril2007,ThatPatchwork Place published her first quilting book "Colorful Quilts - A JourneyThroughFabric."AseparatepatternhasbeendistributedbyMartingalePressforher quilt design titled "Sweet Pea Manor." Her quilt "Cherry Picking Time"appeared in the 2008 Calendar for That Patchwork Place. Her quilt "Black EyedSusans"wasoneof15quiltsfeaturedintheMartingalePressbookCreativeQuiltsVol.III,whichwaspublishedintheSpringof2008.

MembershiprenewalscontinueThemembership term for the Guild runs from September 1 through August 31.Membershiprenewals, inadvanceof the2017-18membershipyear,beganat theJuneGuild lectures featuringMaryFons.Betweenattendanceat the two lectures,overtwentypeoplesubmittedtheir2017-18dues,includingtwonewadditionstoourroster.Woo-hoo!
Membershipremainsat$45.00/person,regardlessofage,unlessyouhavehadlifemembership bestowed upon you by the Board of Directors, were a CharterMember, or are a past President of theGuild.While it seems like a big chunk ofchange, it’s quite the bargain, considering the speakers/teachers it allows us tobringin,thequiltshowwecanhosteachspring,thegrantsweareabletopresenttootherorganizationstofurthertheartofquiltingandheck–thegoodfriendswemake.
Because we now have online membership payment available, we’ve had toreconsiderhowwegoaboutacceptingnewmembershipswhentheyoverlapwiththe renewal period for the next guild year. Last year, the Board voted to makemembership fornew-to-the-Guildmemberscomplimentaryduring June, July,andAugustiftheypaidfortheirmembershipforthecomingyear.Intheinterim,we’vefoundthatpeopledon’tknowthatwehaveafairlycompletedatabaseofmembernames/membership numbers dating back to the guild founding. So they assumethatiftheyhaven’tbeenaroundforayearortwo,wetreattheirmembershiplikeitisanewone.
Therefore, tomake thingsconsistentregardlessofwho joinswhen,afterMay31,individuals joining theGuildwhohavenothadanactivemembershipduring thecurrent Guild yearwill have complimentarymembership through the summer iftheypayforthenewmembershipduringoneofthosemonths.

You aremaking a difference for the RonaldMcDonald House, Children’sAdvocacyCenter, andVogelAlcove. There is still room in theworkshops. There is a reduced rate if you sign up for both of them.
