HaitiSince the earthquake on January 12 MMDR has been actively and extensively involved in the reconstruction of Haiti.

CHILDREN OF HOPE ORPHANAGE AND HOSPICEBobby Toussaint, a Haitian-American, left his life in the States to return to his people in Haiti and serve the children of Thomazeau, a village outside of Port-au-Prince. His orphanage serves ~45 children and is growing.

Located 15 kilometers outside of Port-

au-Prince, the Children of Hope Orphanage

and Hospice accepts children deemed by

other orphanages to be too medically needy

for admittance. Many impoverished

families bring their devastatingly sick

children to the hospice to die only to

witness a dramatic turn around in their

child’s health. Too poor to continue to care

for their kids, the families frequently leave

the recovered children to live at the

orphanage where they can receive love,

care, and nutrition.

Run by Bobby Toussant and his wife

Lourdie, the orphanage is in the process of

receiving their adoption license so that their

children may be adopted out to loving

families. The adoption agency will be

known as “Children of Bethlehem.” The

orphanage “Children of Hope” is not only

working towards adopting but is also

opening a school. This school will be open

to the entire village providing education to

the poorest children in the area. At the

school the students will be provided a

protein-rich lunch and given an education

rivaling the private schools in town.

Excited about fulfilling their goals,

Bobby and Lourdie are raising funds to

purchase an egg-laying hen for each student

and orphan so as to provide protein in every

meal. In addition to this they are in the

process of constructing a larger dormitory

for the kids. Every ounce of their funds go

to developing and nurturing the lives of the

under served children in Thomazeau, Haiti.

Mobile Medical Disaster Relief has

come along side of Bobby and Lourdie and

are committed to seeing them succeed.
