Newsletter – Friday 21st May 2021
Dear Parents and Carers, I hope this newsletter finds you well. It has been another soggy week at school this week! The children have once again been brilliant when coping with wet playtimes and changes to the normal routines. Thank you to all parents and carers who have remembered coats this week. It is so important that the children are able to go outside, even if it is just for a short while and under the shelter. This week would have been our Year 6 SATS week. This year, we have postponed our end of year assessments until the end of this term to insure the children have been given ample opportunity to cover missed learning from the lockdowns. Next week, our Year 6s are off to The Ultimate Adventure Centre for their Year 6 Residential! We hope they all have a wonderful time, and we will be keeping our fingers crossed for better weather for them! Year 5 will also have their activities week next week. It is so good that we are able to offer trips and residentials again. Tomorrow, our Exmoor Challenge group were due to complete their second practise walk. Unfortunately, this has been postponed due to the weather warning which is in place across most of Devon for Saturday and Sunday. We hope to reschedule this walk to a school day after half term. We managed to go ahead with our first walk 2 weeks ago. The children did a fantastic job and worked really well together to complete their walk on the Tarka Trail. Well done to all the children. After half term, on a Friday, children will be able to bring in certificates, trophies or medals that they have won at clubs out of school to share at our Celebration Assembly. This is something that we have really missed during our strict COVID measures. You could also email in a photo which we will be able to share instead. I hope you stay dry and safe this weekend! As always, if you have any questions or comments, please email (admin@witheridge.devon.sch.uk) or phone (01884 860518) the school. Best wishes, Miss Ratcliffe
PE Kits We have noticed that some children are wearing the incorrect uniform for PE. Our PE kit is:
School PE T-Shirt in your child's House colour. (These can be purchased from the School Office, some sizes are on order)
Black shorts
Black joggers or leggings to wear over shorts
Trainers (Preferably in white or black)
Children do NOT need to bring a separate top to wear for PE, they will wear their school jumper.
For any children that have incorrect PE kit, or do not bring a PE kit, parents will be contacted and asked to bring in the correct items. It’s a want! We are looking for wooden crates and tyres for our playground. If you have any or are able to get hold of some, please drop them into school when convenient. Many thanks!

Gardening Club News
Despite the wet and windy weather, we still managed to get out and carry out some much
needed work in our gardens.
The pupils made some coconut bird feeders and have hung them up in the outdoor learning area.
Then it was all hands to help weed our raised beds. This wet weather we have had has certainly
brought the weeds up. The pupils were amazed at the size of some of them.
We have moved outside a yellow courgette plant, some broccoli and leeks all into pots.
Let’s hope we have some warmer weather!
