Activities of the Department of Economics & statistics in 4th quarter for FY 2014-15 is being catered before you through this Newsletter. This newsletter includes highlights, activities, celebrations & publications released at the departmental level during January to March 2015.
In this quarter we released “Basic Statistics of Rajasthan-2013,
Some fact about Rajasthan – 2014, Budget at a Glance 2015-
16, Budget Study 2015-16, Economic Review 2014-15, Report
of ASI 2010-11”. Many important publications like “Statistical
Abstract of Rajasthan-2013, Inter State Economic Indicators-
2014, Socio-Economic Statistics Rajasthan 2013-14, Woman
and Man in Rajasthan-2014, Environment Statistics of
Rajasthan-2014, Population Fact and Figures -2011” are under
process for releasing.
A wide range of published data will fulfil the requirements for
the professionals including policy planners, researchers, civil
society organizations and the general public.

HIGHLIGHTS
1. Price Index of Rajasthan
i. Wholesale Price Index (WPI) of Rajasthan:
The wholesale prices of selected commodities viz; Agricultural, Minerals, Fuel, power, light & lubricants and Manufactured products are collected on every Friday from 76 selected centers for 154 items and 384 quotations. 29 District
Statistical Offices and 47 Krishi Upaj Mandies, provide information on prices in respect of their commodities from corresponding market / centers. The Directorate uses these prices for compiling monthly index series of wholesale
prices for Rajasthan on the basis of weights assigned to all commodities on existing Base year 1999-2000=100. The weighted index is broadly classified for all commodities in following Three groups: - i) Primary Articles,
ii) Fuel, power, light & lubricants, and
iii) Manufactured Products.
All Commodities: -
The Index of All Commodities of Wholesale Prices during February, 2015 stood at 267.56, against 261.90 in February, 2014 showing yearly increase of 2.16
percent over the last year.
Index of Primary Articles group increase by 1.54 percent due to increase in the
Index of Pulses, Fruit & vegetables, Milk, "Eggs, meat & fish", Condiments & spices and other food articles whereas index of Cereals is decrease in Food Articles sub group. The index of Fiber and other non-food articles are decrease
whereas index of Oil-Seed is increase in Non-Food Articles sub group. Index of Lime stone, Phosphorite, Steatite, Zinc concentrate, Building stone and Lime stone are increase whereas index of Lead Concentrate, Silver and Bricks earth
are decrease in Minerals Sub Group in Primary Articles group over corresponding month of last year.
Index of ‘Fuel, Power, Light & Lubricants’ group decrease by 0.60 percent due to decrease in the index of Petrol, Diesel & L. P. Gas whereas index Electricity increase over corresponding month of last year.
Index of Manufactured Products group increase by 4.20 percent due to increase in the Index of Beverage & Tobacco, ‘Spinning, Weaving & Finishing’, Wood &
Wood Products, Chemical, Non-Metallic & Mineral Products and General Purpose Machinery while the index of Food products, Basic Precious & Ferrous Metals and Motor Vehicles are decreased over corresponding month of last year.
Percentage Variation of Wholesale Price Index in DECEMBER, 2014 over DECEMBER, 2013 increased by 2.17 percent and JANUARY, 2015 over

JANUARY, 2014 by 1.42 and FEBRUARY, 2015 over FEBRUARY, 2014 by 2.16 Percent. The Index has been reflected in the diagram given below:-
ii. Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (Base Year 2001=100)
Labour Bureau, Shimla is compiling and releasing the Consumer Price Index for
Industrial Workers at Jaipur, Ajmer and Bhilwara centers of the State. At Jaipur,
Ajmer and Bhilwara centers, the respective index for the month of JANUARY,
2015 stood at 240, 245 and 256 against 231, 236 and 237 in JANUARY, 2014,
showing an increase 09, 09 and 17 points respectively over corresponding month
of last year.
iii. Collection of Prices through Web Portal
An online data transmission software has been developed by RajComp for feeding
the Prices of Wholesale, Retail, ‘Building Material & Labour rate’, ‘Live Stock
products & Fodders’ on the basics of weekly/ monthly/quarterly from District
Statistical Office and various Krishi Upaj/Fruit & vegetable Mandies in Web
Portal.

2. Agriculture
Under the Timely Reporting Scheme, the estimates of area of principal crops
viz. Wheat, Barley, Gram, Rape & Mustard, Taramira and Linseed etc. in the
State for Rabi season for the year 2014-15 have been prepared on the basis of
98.48 percent (9310 out of 9454 selected village) filled schedules were received
from Patwaries. These schedules were scrutinized, and tabulated at the
Directorate level. Under this, estimates are worked out by both the ratio and
unbiased methods of estimation. Prepared estimates are sent to various
departments of State / Central Government.
Preliminary Report on estimating area under Principal Crops for Kharif Season
2014-15 is under progress.
Under the Improvement of crops Statistics scheme, the work of preparation of
Tables A1 to A20 and Y1 to Y13 of Kharif crops viz. Rice, Jowar, Bajra, Maize,
Cotton, Groundnut etc. for the year 2014-15 are under progress.
3. National Sample Survey
Report writing of 66th round has been published.
Data entry & validation of 70th round is under progress.
N.S.S 70th round survey is under progress in field:
350 sample have been surveyed out of 354 sample and 340 sample have
been received for 1st Visit.
345 sample have been surveyed out of 354 samples and 324 sample have
been received for IInd visit.
N.S.S. 71th round survey is under progress in field:
174 sample have been surveyed out of 184 sample and 139 sample have
been received for 1st sub round.
173 sample have been surveyed out of 184 sample and 140 sample have
been received for IInd sub round.
N.S.S. 72nd round survey is under progress in field:
81 sample have been surveyed out of 159 sample for 1st sub round.
60 sample have been surveyed out of 159 sample for 2nd sub round.
25 sample have been surveyed out of 159 sample for 3rd sub round.

4. Business Register
Survey for the existence & nonexistence of the above enterprises is on
completed in 25 district and remaining 8 district survey work is under
progress.
District Business Register is being prepared in all district through online
software in br.raj.nic.in.

5. Sixth Economic Census
Sixth Economic Census 2013
Data error of schedule 6C (Directory of Establishments) rectified at DES level as
per direction of MoS&PI
6. Finance
The estimates of Gross/ Net State Domestic Product and Per Capita Income
prepared and published in Economic Review 2014-15. The estimates of Gross/
Net State Domestic Product, Per Capita Income and Growth Rate are given below.

7. Co-Ordination
Right to information Act, 2005
Thirty One applications under RTI Act, 2005 were received and Twenty Seven
information has been provided.
8. Bhamashah
Introduction
A path breaking scheme of Financial Inclusion and Women Empowerment,
Bhamashah Scheme was first launched in 2008, has achieved many milestones
since its re-launching by the Hon'ble CM on 15.08.2014. The scheme was
envisaged to enroll each resident of Rajasthan and issuance of Bhamashah
Resident Card to each family by declaring the lady of the house as the Head of
the Family (HoF). For the Financial Inclusion purpose, bank accounts of the HoF
were to be linked with the Bhamashah ID and Aadhaar. The bank accounts were
to be opened for the HoFs who did not have any bank accounts.
Benefit of the Scheme:
Ensuring women empowerment and their independence
Financial inclusion for all sections of the society
End-to-end service delivery platform for cash and non-cash benefits with
complete transparency and real time delivery
Provides banking services nearer to the house
A platform for larger number of schemes
Includes both family and individual beneficiary schemes
Creation of Bhamashah Resident Hub:
Family based de-duplicated data base namely Bhamashah Resident data Hub
(BRDH) shall be created. BRDH shall be linked with respective service delivering
departments to capture all the services/benefits/entitlement of various
departments into BRDH. Aadhaar based Individual unique identity of a resident
in Bhamashah shall be established. Departmental data base shall be in

convergence with the BRDH and all updating in departmental databases shall be
sync with BRDH regularly.
Camp Organization for Aadhaar & Bhamashah Enrolment:
To achieve the envisaged objectives, the Bhamashah Scheme has been
launched in camp mode and residents of the state are being enrolled and their
bank accounts are also being opened in the camps. The enrolment shall have
stringent verification for residents’ identity, address and other documentary
proofs of department scheme specific benefits claimed by the residents/families.
Under the Scheme, the camps will be continued for Bhamashah enrollment
which is not already enrolled.
All e-Mitra have been also declared permanent Bhamashah enrolment centre.
The Enrollment of Bhamashah may also through regional Training Centre of
RKCL.
Bhamashah card distribution has been started and it will be distributed to
all the enrolled families.
Budget Provision:
A budget provision of Rs. 183.54 crores has been made for Bhamashah Yojana in
the Financial Year 2015-16
Direct Benefit Transfer:
As a futuristic goal of implementing Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in the State for
various Departmental Schemes, the Aadhaar linking of the Bhamashah ID &
Bank Accounts with the individual departmental databases is also being done at
the backend so that the DBT may be apply in the first phase for PDS,
MGNREGA, Social Security Pensions, Scholarships transactions etc.
Progress of the Scheme up to March, 2015
The first Bhamashah camp was launched at Kota on 15-08-2014 and camps all
over the state were commenced from 16-08-2014 except Udaipur Division where
camps were commenced from 1st September, 2014. The progress of the Scheme
up to March, 2015 is as under:

9. Vital
Birth and Death registration-
From 01.01.2015 to 31.03.2015 402621 birth, 110689 death and 2700 still birth
events have been registered through web portal “Pehchan”. In this period 189422
birth, 59871 deaths and 114 still birth certificate have also been issued. For
strengthening of civil registration system, services have been hired as State
Coordinator and Data Processing Assistant at State and District level by the
support of RGI.
10. Annual Survey of Industries (ASI)

11. Index of Industrial Production (IIP)
Index of industrial production (IIP) is use for measuring the industrial
development index of a state. The index indicates the relative change over time in
the volume of production in industrial sector. Index of industrial production (base
year 2004-05) prepared on the basis of month wise production data received from
various selected 997 industrial units for selected 294 items.
The report of index of industrial production for year 2012 and 2013 has been
published & compilation work is being under progress for IIP report 2014.

11. Mukhyamantri e-Gram
Project Overview
The e- Gram project has been designed as a tool for reality check on the status of
amenities being provided by Government Departments in rural areas. It also
provides useful statistics and information for planning purposes. The web based
application (http://egram.raj.nic.in) has been developed by NIC to get the village
wise data on annual basis in EG-1 and monthly basis in EG-2. the status of
selected amenities directly from the grass root level.
A "Gram Prabhari" has been entrusted the job of filling in the form, in
consultation with the villagers. 12 Departments viz Health, Education, PHED,
Woman & Child, Power, Social Justice, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, PDS,
Cooperative, Revenue and Rural Development & Panchayati Raj have been
covered under the project. The information’s of prapatra EG- 1 and EG-2 are
issued in public domain at URL of this department i.e
www.egram.rajasthan.gov.in since 01.04.2011.
Progress of data entry
For the quarter January to March, 2015 the progress of data entries of schedule
EG-1 and EG2 is as under:
Annual basis report collected in schedule EG-1 from 19602 villages out of total
44612 villages. i.e 43.94%. Monthly basis report collected in schedule EG-2 from
19938 (46.21%) villages for the month of January, 2015, from 16387 (37.98%)

villages for the month of February, 2015 and from 10903 (25.27%) villages for the
month of March, 2015 Out of total 44612 inhabitants villages.
Trainings & Seminars
A training on ASI, 2012-13has been organized on 26-27 March, 2015 for filling
up ASI E-Schedule. In this training 74 officials were participated. Two officers
from of NSSO, Jaipur (central) were deputed for this training as resource person.
