President’s Perspective It’s so hard to believe our ski season will

be wrapping up soon – but we don’t want to

rush it! I’ve been out on the slopes several

times and as you’re reading this, I will be

skiing in Oregon. There is still the whole

month of March to go, so get out there and

enjoy the snow while it lasts!

Our final club meeting/party of the year is

Tuesday, March 12 at the Knights. The board

meets at 6:00, then our party will start at 7:00

with pizza and wings. This is the club’s

annual meeting with elections – we will be

selecting our board for next year. A slate of

officers is in this newsletter, and nominations

will also be taken from the floor. We have a

few changes to the by-laws we need to vote

on as well. Please come and have a beer while

we conduct this important business to keep

our club moving forward.

Mark your calendars for the year-end ski

banquet on Sunday, April 7. We’ll gather at

The Sunset Restaurant for cocktails at 5:00,

dinner at 6:00. Always a fun time with

awards and prizes. Non-skiers and significant

others welcome!

Trip Recap: 2019 Weekender Trip Gore Mountain

February 1 - 4, 2019 Eighteen members of the FLSC went to Gore Mountain for a long weekend with four new members on the trip. We stayed at the Wingate in the heart of Lake George. A wonderful, fully stocked and filling buffet was arranged by the trip leader Vin Maresco. After two days of great skiing, we had the entire lobby area to ourselves to watch the Superbowl!

Our Many thanks to Vin Maresco for designing such a fun and well organized trip!!

Value added! As a Finger Lakes Ski Club member, you are automatically also a member of the much larger New Jersey Ski & Snowboard Council. They have lots of bargaining power with so many clubs and members across the Northeast. The New Jersey Ski & Snowboard Council offers their many members an opportunity to obtain discounted lift tickets from many ski areas, go on Council ski trips at discounted group rates, as well as participate in “Council Ski Days” at various Northeast mountains. The program is administered through the individual clubs; Finger Lakes Ski Club is an “associate” member. The program is for use by club members and their families only. Just show your FLSC membership card with the NJSSC sticker on the back at the ticket windows of the ski resorts listed and receive discounted rates on specific Council and Club dates. Paid FLSC members only, may advertise for sale or rent in the Snowflake monthly newsletter.

The item information must be written up in paragraph form or a word document flier with a limit of

25 words. Pictures may be included and used at the discretion of the newsletter editor. Ads will be

published up to three months. Depending on space availability, the ad may be posted to the FLSC

website and/or facebook page. All items sold or rented must be owned by the FLSC member. Ads are
