Defining Social MediaCollaborative process through which information (news, photos, videos, links, podcasts) is created, shared and/or altered via social networking websites.

How does the digital native define social media? To them, it’s ingrained in communications—no different than email or texting.

HIMSS: Why Enter Social Media?Started three communities in 2008 to complement existing member outreach tools, and grow industry awareness.

Has evolved to a fully integrated component of communications, PR, marketing, outreach and customer service.
