New Young MenDuty to God Program

August 1, 2010

The New Program

• The new program was introduced in July 2010

• The goals are all self-directed, each chosen by the boy with help from parents and leaders

• Each goal is focused on the three steps: Learn, Act and Share

• Six goals and a project each for deacons, teachers, and priest (18 total goals)

• An additional project for priests

Goals and Projects

• Two main goal topics, three goals under each:– Spiritual Strength– Priesthood Duties

• Projects are organized around principles taught in For the Strength of Youth

Spiritual Strength Topics

• Pray and Study the Scriptures• Live Worthily• Understand Doctrine

Priesthood Duties Topics

• Administer Priesthood Ordinances• Serve Others• Invite All to Come unto Christ

Deacon’s Project

• Physical Health– Regular Exercise– Nutrition

Teacher’s Project

• Education– Education– Occupation

Priest’s Projects

• Family and Friends– Family– Friends

• Preparing to Receive the Melchizedek Priesthood– Melchizedek Priesthood– Full-time Mission

Leadership

• Learn, Share and Act • Aaronic priesthood quorum

presidencies are to take the lead as examples and in leading discussions on Duty to God

• We should include discussions of Duty to God in quorum meeting and Mutual regularly

• Requires regular discussion with parents and leaders

The Award

• There are certificates, one each for deacons, teachers and priest

• Award presented after requirements are complete—18 goals, 4 projects, and living the standards

• There is a plaque available instead of the medallion
