STUDENT RIGHTS

By Illinois state law, a student has the right to bilingual services,

if the student’s home or native language is other than

English AND he/she qualifies for it.

To determine if a student qualifies, he/she needs to take an English

proficiency test.

If the student is not proficient in Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing

in English, he/she is eligible.

Parents at that time may choose bilingual support services

ACCESS FOR ELLS 2.0 ASSESSMENT

Annual state mandated standardized test

ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 is a secure large-scale English language proficiency

assessment administered to Kindergarten through 12th grade students who

have been identified as English language learners (ELs).

ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 is aligned with the WIDA English Language Development

Standards and assesses each of the four language domains of Listening,

Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
