New product launch - AM10 Humidifier
Dyson will shortly be launching a new humidifier in the US markets.
The Dyson Humidifier is scientifically proven to hydrate dry air for a healthier home. It uses Ultraviolet Cleanse™ technology, exposing every drop of water to an ultraviolet light, killing 99.9% of bacteria before mist is projected. It uses Air Multiplier™ technology to project hygienic, humidified air evenly across the room, quickly and quietly. And with it’s accurate and efficient water management system, it gives up to 18 hours of continuous use on one
tank of water.

Humidity is water vapour in the air. Warm air holds more water than cold air. The relative humidity level (RH) is measured in accordance to changes in temperature. During the winter months, humidity decreases and the air gets drier. In some states, air can be hot and dry throughout the whole year. This is why we need humidity in
the air. A comfortable humidity percentage is 35-45%.
What is humidity
Having the correct humidity
• It can cause personal discomfort such as, dry scratchy skin, sore nose, throat and eyes.
• Increased susceptibility to viruses like cold and flu.• Can aggregate asthma and allergy symptoms due to
the dry air.
Problems with under humidified air - under 35%
Problems with over humidified air - above 45-50%
• Reduces the bodies ability to cool itself which can affect people with heart conditions.
• Can trigger asthma and allergy conditions due to the increased mould and bacteria in the air.
• Mould spores reproduce more when the humidity is high. They can damage whatever they grow on and pose a threat to bronchial conditions.
Problems with other humidifiers:
• Warm mist humidifiers - Rely on energy hungry heating elements to create steam. The steam is not distributed evenly and can leave puddles around the humidifier.
• Hybrid humidifiers - Have 2 modes, warm mist and cool mist, but neither distribute around the room evenly. In cool mode, the machine can harbour bacteria which is unhygienic.
• Ultrasonic humidifiers - they don’t treat the water properly, which means that bacteria in the tank can be transmitted directly into the room and be inhaled.
• Evaporative humidifiers - Evaporate water from a wet wick or sponge filter. This quickly becomes a breeding ground for bacteria. Overtime the wick/filter becomes clogged which prevents mist from being created.

New technology:
TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN
Before releasing any mist, the Ultraviolet Cleanse™ technology uses a 3 minute cycle to kill 99.9% of bacteria in the piezo chamber, ensuring that any mist
projected is always 99.9% bacteria free.
Ultraviolet Cleanse™ technology
1. Feed chamberWater passes into the feed chamber via the
release valve on the water tank.
2. RillThe water runs down the rill, exposing
every drop to an ultraviolet light.
3. Piezo chamberThe water runs into this chamber, where it is exposed
to the ultraviolet light for a second time. It is then atomised by the piezo.
Ultraviolet bulb
4. PiezoThe piezo is a ceramic diaphragm that vibrates at an ultrasonic
frequency to atomise the water into a fine mist.5. Mist flueAn air bleed from the impeller draws the mist through the flue up into the
loop.
Air is drawn in through inlets in the base of the machine, passing over an intelligent thermostat and
humidistat, which accurately monitor the room’s temperature and humidity.
The hygienic mist is then released from one aperture while the air is accelerated through a second aperture. This draws in surrounding air to create a powerful jet airflow, distributing 99.9% bacteria free mist evenly
throughout the whole room.

How the AM10 works:
1. Water from the tank is channelled through the Ultraviolet Cleanse™.2. The piezoelectric transducer (peizo) atomises the hygienic water into a
fine mist.3. Surrounding air is drawn into the inlets by the motor’s impeller.4. The air from the impeller draws the hygienic mist up into the annular
loop.5. The airflow travels around the loop and out of the annular aperture
forcing the air out to create the annular jet.6. Hygienic mist is expelled, mixing with the airflow drawn in by the air
multiplier technology, distributing the mist around the room.

Remote control:
The remote control holds all the functionality to the humidifier. The machine itself has the on/off button, and when this is held down, the machine will adjust the humidity, whilst air speed settings will automatically set to ‘05’.
Fan ModeDedicated fan mode for cooling in the summer.
Variable airflow controlPush button to quickly adjust airflow power from 1 to 10.
Humidity Control30% RH (relative humidity) to 70% RH precision.
Intelligent Climate Control (auto mode)Measures temperature and humidity to find the most comfortable setting for the room.
Sleep TimerHumidifier can be programmed to turn off at intervals between 15 minutes and 8 hours.
