Every web strategy should keep these fundamental properties of the web in mind.

1. allow people to create

2. allow people to share

3. use the network effect

This means:

1. Where should I participate?

Don’t forget:

- Be active on the important (for your audience) networks.

- Use technology to automate.

Be everywhere?

Use your own website as a central ‘hub’, a ‘basecamp’.

(In Memoriam MySpace.)

2. How to start with social media

3. Facebook vs. Twitter

4. Social Media 4 dummies

At first sight, it’s just a bunch of people having fun with idle chatter.

Social media is a bar.

But when you dig deeper, you’ll discover that’s where relationships start, business is being conducted, and political alliances grow.

Social media is a bar.

‘elegant organisation’

Barack Obama did not win the elections because he had a few viral youtube-clips, or because he regularly blogged, mailed or twittered... His website was a true platform for his followers to organise themselves and to co-operate.
