• There are three kinds of nephila spiders. One nephila spider has a creamy stomach with a blue rear end. In Africa nephila spiders have a black and yellow stomach with yellow bands around their legs. The third nephlia spider is black,silver and reddish brown with red legs. Nephila spiders are large and shy. The female is 45 mm.The male is smaller.They have eight legs.

Where Lives

• The largest nephila spider lives in Australia. It is called the golden orb. Nephila spiders also live in Africa.

Web

• Nephila spider’s web is extremely strong.It has a golden color. Nephila spiders spin their webs on sign posts and trees. Nephila spiders catch large flying insects and small birds in their webs.

Babies

• The female lays her eggs in an egg sac. Then she covers it with white silk. In two weeks the babies hatch inside the egg sac.The babies are called spiderlings.

Enemies

• The enemies of a nephila spider are people and other large animals.
