Austria while Garibaldi’s armies

moved northacross thepeninsula.

Cavour was the“mastermind” of

unification.

Cavour then annexed most of the otherstates of northern and central Italy.

Naples in the south. He then joined Naples to Cavour’s enlarged Piedmont.
