• “ NRPC will integrate all applications, eliminate redundant data storage, and streamline standard functions...”

• “ NRPC systems will transition to Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). This transition will strategically position NRPC to better deal with future changes in technology…”

NRInfo Portal Essentials

- Authentication: system knows who you are and what you can do, without usernames and passwords

- Standardized look, feel, navigation throughout

- Managed Access: NPS and public

- Sensitivity, Proprietary status, Quality assessment: managed at the record level

- The portal isn’t the only way to reach the underlying data

- User Requirements: hundreds of users and potential users interviewed during development process

- Iterative Development: Short development cycles; functionality added or improved with each cycle

- Performance: will be getting better!

- Much to improve.

- Public Use Statistics: work will begin this year to integrate application into the portal

- Inventory Tracking: Integration by the end of the fiscal year

- T&E species, RPRS, APCAM: currently being considered for conversion and integration

- Geospatial capabilities: expanding with each release

“authoritative” data sets “human use” tab is confusing to cultural

staff look at Google’s use of links in upper-left
