The Inis Cairde School of Irish Dance welcomes you all
to our ANNUAL Raleigh Feis. We would like to start by thanking our partners
– especially Michelle Watson at the Durham Convention Center, Pamela
Crockett at the Durham Marriott, Craig Shipley at The Durham Hotel, and
Bettina Sohnigen at QuickFeis. We proudly welcome our wonderful adjudi-
cators and musicians from all over the country! This year, we have dancers
representing 57 schools in 20 states. We believe that the sport of Irish dance
should be inclusive, fun and filled with lots of joy and family time. We also
believe in promoting Irish culture, and we welcome all musicians, vocalists,
chefs and artists to our competition. We are honored that you chose The
Raleigh Feis as your destination this weekend.
We will kick off our Feis on Saturday morning at 7:45 am on
Stages 4/5 with a bagpiper and the singing of the Irish and American Nation-
al Anthems. Stay tuned to our social channels (Facebook – RaleighFeis and
#raleighfeis on Instagram and Twitter) to follow stage progress, and to enjoy
our music and vocal competitions, which will take place sometime around
11:30 am on Saturday. Baking and art competitions are located in the grade
award room and outside in the hallways—please visit! Sunday morning will
begin promptly at 8:00 am and we are aiming for a shorter day.
Our bar cart will be open on Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday, offering
specialty Feis beverages. They accept both cash and credit. Please note: any
alcohol purchased in the Marriott must stay outside of the double door, and
alcohol purchased in the bar cart must stay inside of the convention center.
This year, we are honored once again to bring you the 9th annual
Maureen Harling-Welty Charity Reel Specials on Sunday at lunchtime. All
proceeds will go to the South Florida Chapter of the ALS Association to hon-
or our friend who lost her brave fight with ALS in 2011. Each year, our chari-
ty reel offers dancers a chance to show off their creativity and we expect
this year to be no different. If you haven’t yet registered, you can do so up
until the reel begins. There will be volunteers stage-side and also in the
hallway to collect your donation. Your dancer will receive complimentary
Charms and treats, courtesy of Capital City Health Care Providers.
The Dad Feis: This year, we want to magnify ALL of the contributions
our wonderful Feis dads bring—by offering two competitions: “The Dad Jig”
and “The Feis Dad Obstacle Course”. All dads will receive a prize for enter-
ing, sponsored by Magical Vacation Planning by Melissa.
Please be sure to visit our photo booth, located in the vendor /
champ awards room – and have fun with the props. Please be sure to post
to social with #raleighfeis – let all of your friends know how much fun you
are having!
Don’t Forget to visit our awesome vendors in the vendor room! Get
all of your Irish accessories, gifts, wigs, shoes, books, and specialty items.
We appreciate their willingness to come and make these offerings available
to us – so please be sure to spend some time perusing their wonderful
wares. And don’t forget to visit the Dress Room – Refeis that Dress will be in
the Grade Awards room on Saturday – and we will also be accepting your
dresses in the dress room for $5.00 (non-monitored on Sunday).
Our Raffle is amazing this year! In addition to an Irish Dance practice
pad, we have donations from some very generous partners. Be sure to visit
the raffle table (near registration) and purchase your chance to win!
We Wish all competitors headed to All-Irelands, Worlds and Nationals
the very best of luck! We are very proud of all of you.
Lastly, we’d like to express our tremendous love and appreciation for
our teachers: Meighan Carpenter, ADCRG, founder of the Inis Cairde School
of Irish Dance, Brita Kiser, TCRG, and Cara Stackpoole, TCRG. Each one of
these ladies not only challenges our dancers to be their best, both on and
off the stage, but also works to foster a love of all things Irish in each of us.
The Irish Dance community is a special community – and we feel extremely
lucky to be part of the Inis Cairde family.
At the Raleigh Feis, we strive to bring you best-in-class Feis ex-
perience. We look forward to watching competitors dance their “heart-est”
while also displaying heartfelt support for their peers this Valentine’s day
weekend. We appreciate the good sportsmanship attitude we see from so
many dancers and their families. Should any question or problem arise,
please look for our friendly volunteers, or check with someone at the regis-
tration table.
We hope you have an amazing weekend. And Happy Early Valentine’s
Day!
