OPTION:If you already have a shortcut icon,
double-click it on desktop
Saving a Publicati
on
STEP 1Click on FILE menu, then on SAVE command
(this is the dialog box that appears once you save a publication)
In the file name, you can insert the name you wish, select the location. You should make the file name descriptive to make it easy to find.
STEP 2Once you are done, click SAVE.
*Another way of saving a publication is by Ctrl + S. Or, by clicking the save button on STANDARD TOOLBAR
Opening a
Publication
Actually, you can open a publication in three different ways…
STEP 1Click on FILE menu, then on Open Command
STEP 2:Look for the location of the file you wish to open.
STEP 3:Once you have chosen the file, you can double-click it or press Enter or Open Button
* Other ways of opening a publication is by the shortcut CTRL + O or you can also use the OPEN BUTTON in the Standard Toolbar.

MENU BAR – lets you to access the commands you can use to open, save, edit, view, and format your publication. Some of the menus may be very familiar, but there are some additional menus used to MS Publisher only.
STANDARD TOOLBAR - it contains the standard commandused to save, open, edit, and view a publication. This is the ¨one-press way¨ of accessing commands in the Publisher.
NEW – creates a new document or publication.OPEN – opens a recent or existing document.
SAVE – saves your current document or publication
SEND THIS PAGE AS A MESSAGE – sends current document as e-mail.PRINT – prints the current document
PRINT PREVIEW – previews the document before printing
SPELLING CHECK – checks the spelling & grammar of your current document.
RESEARCH – to research the translation of selected words in your current document. CUT – cuts an object or text in the into temporary place in the clipboard.COPY – copies an object into your current document
PASTE – paste an object into your current document
FORMAT PAINTER – paints a previous format into selected objects or text.
REDO – to redo a previous action
UNDO – to undo a previous action
ORDER – set up the overlapping of objects and text in your document or publication.
ROTATE – to rotate or flip your object in different ways.
INSERT HYPERLINK – set up hyperlink with an object
WEB PAGE PREVIEW – view your webpage in a web browser.
COLUMNS – to set up columns in your current publication.
SPECIAL CHARACTER – insert special character
ZOOM – zoom in and out the view of your document using percentile.
ZOOM OUT/ ZOOM IN – the view of the document by means of clicking the button.
HELP – access help features of Publisher
FORMATTING TOOLBARIt contains the important formatting commands for text and other objects inside the Publisher. With this toolbar, you can change the font type, font style, and size, paragraph spacing, and the line style and weight in your publication.
FORMATTING TOOLBAR BUTTONSSTYLE AND FORMATTING – set up the style and formatting of your text by choosing the available options seen in the taskpane

FONT STYLE – set up the font style of your text
FONT SIZE – set up the font size of your text
Bold- text into bold formatItalic – text format into italic formatUnderline – underline text
Align Left – align text and objects on the leftAlign Right – align text and objects on the right
Center align – align text and objects to the centerJustify – justifies the alignment of text and objects

Fill color – to apply a fill color to an object

3-D – apply 3D effect to your box or objects
PICTURE TOOLBAR – it contains picture formatting option which is also the same with the Word Processing software of MS Office
WORDART TOOLBAR – it contains commands in formatting WordArt text which is frequently used for designing documents and publications.
OBJECT TOOLBAR – most frequently used toolbar in Publisher since it contains
PARTS OF THE OBJECT TOOLBARPointer Tool – lets you select an object and edit itText Frame Tool - with a blank document, a text box, or a picture box should be created first to begin inserting text, with a template in Publisher, you just need to replace the contentTable Frame Tool – allows you to draw a table in your publication where you can insert data.WordArt Frame Tool – allows you to draw a frame to insert a WordArt.
Picture Frame Tool – allows you to insert a picture from the ClipArt gallery, existing file or external device such as a digital camera or scanner, or draw an empty picture frame
Drawing Tools – lets you draw lines, arrows, ellipses, squares or predefined shapes
Design Gallery Objects – allows you to insert ready-made design components such as calendar, reply form, logo, or quote
TASK PANE
The Task pane can be seen at the left side of the publisher window. When you use Publisher, the task pane will give you side options side options to use a wizard to crate you new publication, start with a new blank publication, or open a new publication to edit. You can click the dropdown area next to the New Publications title to change the contents. You can close the task pane by clicking the X on the top right corner.
once you click on one of the selections inside the task pane, it will change the work area and show you the different templates available in the Publisher.
RULER- This is like the ruler seen in the Word. There are
vertical and horizontal rulers. They are seldom given emphasis in word since you will normally focus on estimating the measurement of the document by the margin that you have set in the page until you print your document. In Publisher, this is very important because you can set guidelines and exact measurement on how your text boxes and picture frames would be organized in your publication.
