Materials• Apples• Bananas• Grapes• Limes• Oranges• clear

container with water

• paper towels

Procedure1. Fill the clear container with

water.2. Place a fruit in the container.3. Watch what happens. Did it

sink or float?4. Repeat 1-3 with each fruit.5. Records and discuss results.

Variable•We changed

the types of fruits tested.

Control

• We used the same container of water and procedure.

Apple Results

• The apples floated !

Bananas Results• The banana

floated!

Grape Results• The tiny

grapes sank!

Lime Results

• Wow! The limes sank !

Orange Results• The orange

floated !

Conclusion• We were surprised to

find out that not all heavy fruits sank. Our hypothesis was incorrect, just because an object has greater mass does not mean it will sink. We had lots of fun doing this experiment.
