- Master of propaganda- Came at a time when people were looking for a

strong leader- A brilliant strategist- Came full circle – of nothing to power to

nothing again

poison gas, flame thrower, light automatic weapons

- AIR: observation balloons, aerial photography, fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft weapons

OLD BATTLE TACTICS

World War IWhy did it last so long?- 1014-1918- The war started in July, to rally up support,

people were told that it will be over by Christmas.

World War I

Purpose of trenches- to hide- not to get killed right-a-way- did not change much for 3-4 years

World War I

How young were the recruits?- More than 9 million combatants were killed- British – over 5.3 ft tall, between 18-38- Thousands of “boy soldiers” were killed,

because realistically no-one had the time to verify that the people enlisting were truly 18

- Patriotic feelings were high and many 15 yr. olds joined.

World War I

• Who won? How did it set the stage for the second World War?

World War I How did it affect the world forever?- At first in America, it was called the European war.

No-one knew how many would get drawn into it. All of the world’s greatest economic powers at that time got tangled into this on opposite sides.

- Deep resentment

World War I
