The Expedition-1953

Edmund Hilary and Tenzin Norgay were part of the ninth British expedition to attempt to climb Mount Everest. They were the first confirmed to have succeeded when Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Norgay reached the summit on 29 May 1953. Led by Colonel John Hunt it was organised and financed by the Joint Himalayan committee. It took several months to climb the mountain and they experienced extreme conditions. It took another month for the news to go global. They became very famous when they arrived home.
